Miyata 1000 - is this original?
I have a Miyata 1000 and always search ebay UK to see if there are any here (I bought mine in Germany and have never seen one advertised in the UK)
here's one now and I'm just curious as the I'm not sure that they made this colour? .... Seller says it's original and was never ridden? ... the labels look different to mine ... I've got a gut feel that this is a respray?

FWIW, the catalogue shows the 1000 in "Royal Blue.":

They might have brightened the color, pop or saturation of the photo--but I don't think in a deceptive way, just to better convey what it looks like.
It does look original to me.

They came in that color for a couple years. The saturated blue was a micro trend in the early 80s. It was inspired by Gios Torino. I had the Univega version of this frame in the exact same color. We used to call it electric blue. Yes they may have bumped up the colors in the photo a bit, but it's not that far off. It's not any kind of modest muted blue. I'm sure you could find other photos of the same color.

That shade of blue is very real, and very vibrant. Unedited picture of my 1000 the day I bought her:

Nice bike and condition, but I don't see the bike selling at that price anytime soon, despite it being more of an appeal to collectors.
The colour is original, but the pictures look a bit saturated for effect. 1978-1984 had this shade of royal blue I believe.

May not happen quickly, but I suspect it'll happen.

It's not unusual to see well-used ones in good to great shape run upwards of $600-700. The one pictured appears to be virtually NOS, and I fully believe the seller's claim it was test ridden and stored for 40 years based on what I'm seeing. In which case, you're practically getting a NOS top-end model. I don't think the price is that lofty and believe there's probably a collector or enthusiast out there that'll pay it.
