Puch Mistral - road bike

Hi,

i would be interested in buying the following bike from our local "craigslist" : https://www.willhaben.at/iad/kaufen-...ike-614698866/

Is it worth the 220 € asking price? The frame looks to be in good condition, except for the rusty BB.

Thanks!

Need more information on your location. Are you in a hot market? If not, I believe they are asking too much for a lower tier bike constructed with hi-tensile tubing.

The asking price equates to around $227.00 USD, way more than I'd expect to pay in my market.

If the bike fits you size-wise, perhaps you can make an offer on it. Remember, it needs tires/tubes and other consumables, so you have to figure that into your final cost.

thanks for the reply.
Not sure what a "hot market" would constitute. There are loads of bikes on offer, if that's what you are refering to. I particularly like the paint job and it feels like it's hard to come by in this quality and in my size.
I would be willing to pay ~150 €, since I should have all the spare parts in my parts bin (including tyres and tubes). What would you consider this bike to go for usually?

This bike would likely go for $200 or so US in bigger market and as little as $100 in a lesser market but it's hard to say since these weren't marketed in the US much. Just not a lot of demand for mid level road bikes with DT friction shifters in the US prices have come way down lately .Can't really say for the current central Euro market in the winter. If the size is right and you like the paint I could see going 200 or so Euro's.

Agree it looks to be in very nice condition with no damage.

Appears to come from the early 1980's.

If you wish to check it there will be a date mark on the Sachs Huret rear gear mech.

The first two numerals indicate the week of the year and the last two the year.

I think 150 Euros is fair. By hot market I mean a market where bikes tend to go for higher prices. Sometimes a great deal higher. So if you happen to be in one, expect to pay more. But since there's loads of bikes for sale, it is probably not too hot. My approach would be to offer what you feel is appropriate and if they say no, leave your contact information and see what happens. If they sell it, that's fine, there's more than one fish in the sea.

Good luck!
