1961 Holdsworth Hurricane

I'm looking for more information on this Holdsworth I'll be listing for sale soon. The vintage is a little out of my wheelhouse and I'm not familiar with Holdsworth models.

appears a two down from the top sort of model from the mid-'60's - not earlier than 1964

the sort of model whose frame might be three-tube 531 butted

dates harvestable from the Campag hub axle locknuts but since hubs mismatched this is of limited help

frame constructed with an Agrati ends set

headset is T.D. Cross model "Italia"

GB Hiduminium marked stem a helpful dating aid

As for info I would agree it is top end mid 60's model and most of the parts are original so as said you should be able to get some date codes. The inside and outside sizing of the seat tube should help define the the tubing likely 531b medium strait gage main tubes with Raliegh BBC high ten stays and fork blades. Very nice bike I really like the nice paint and clean original parts.

Amateurs With Watermarked Pics....<sigh emoji>

If you want a Frame ID, you may want to consider posting photographs of the details of the frame, not the bits?
Somehow there are no photos of the underside of the BB shell, where a Serial might reside, or the seat stay cluster?

There's an expansive site dedicated almost solely to Holdsworth, with Serial Numbers charted and catalogs galore.

To quote the Holdsworth site: "... the easier you make it for folk to help you, the more likely they are to try."

Good point. The photos were for a for sale listing and so focused on condition. I’ll get better photos for frame ID. Thanks.

the Cyclone model of 1966 seems close

one of the only listed as coming with Agrati ends...

gear ensemble and brakes a match but not chainset - perhaps chainset a retrofut

I get just under 26mm on inside of seat tube, so maybe 25.8mm? Outside seat tube is 28mm.

Serial number is 28803.

I get 22.7lbs as it sits (no pedals).

Serial Number places it at the tail out of 1961, and here's the catalog.

Thanks so much for the quick identification. Does anyone have a suggestion on value? I've done the usual eBay sold search, etc. and haven't come up with much at all. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the link to the catalog. From there I was able to go to the main site, which is a tremendous resource. Even if I may never own a Holdsworth, I enjoyed checking some of the links.

+ 1, this is a bike worth owning and it looks to be your size? I'd have a hard time letting this one go.

I know what you both mean, but this isn't staying with me. There are too many projects, by far, and my interest is with other bikes and eras.
