Bianchi Trofeo - Picked up today

I found this in my local FB Marketplace and went to pick it up today. it had a few issues that had to be attended to but after a little time in the rack I think I did ok on this one. Campanolo brakes, crank, shifters, derailleur, etc... Paid $140.00 for it. I need to change out a few things like the pedals (I have some Shimano 105's) and a different saddle. And then ride it and tweak it as I go. Shifts smooth and rides very nice. She needs a good cleaning and tune up!

You did very well, but this crank is cracked and will need replacing.

No worries, hopefully someone else will chime in with more relevant commentary.

I'm always glad to see unusual parts, pieces, failures, fixes and workarounds.

Been doing this kind of stuff all my life and no one has seen it all, not even close.

Good Morning. Sorry I meant to get this posted yesterday but got distracted doing something close to nothing but different from the day before…. Anyway this is a 1995 model first year for the revival of the name after a 7 year absence. The ‘96 moved to Ergos

Sorry about the split in the page I thought I did a sort of half page scan over this but it isn’t in the album.

Nice! I have a Campy-equpped Alfana. Great riding bike, even if it isn't in "celeste". I got over that issue within 5 minutes of my first ride on it! You did well on the price! They all usually need some parts replaced and some repairs to be done.

Went for a ride and I was blown away by how smooth it shifts and it was a decent ride. It is a bit more of an aggressive riding position than I am used to. I would love to bring the handlebars up just a little to relax the riding geometry just a little. Any suggestions?

Sweet ride, looks great. There are plenty of (I'm assuming 22.2) stem options out there; a little shorter length, or something with a tiny bit of rise might do you good. But your actual handlebars angle looks pretty good from here.

Having owned a ‘97 and a ‘98, I’d have preferred this model with DT shifters.

If I recall, one of those had Avanti gear with Miche hubs, cassette, and crankset. The other had Mirage. Oval tubing? I also remember Campy rims and Vittoria wire bead tires that were insanely tight.

It's a nice, entry level, road/sport model for the era and the OP got a good deal but I don't think it's a great deal, especially given the cracked crankarm. The Campagnolo Stratos components were bottom of the line and meant to compete with Shimano RX100 and RSX. However, it was a stop gap group that was only manufactured for the 1994 model year. Specifying it on a 1995 model meant that Bianchi had a lot feftover stock or they bought Campagnolo's leftover stock. Regardless, in 1995 the Trofeo was 2nd from the bottom of the road line and had an MSRP of $673 US. It was direct competition for bicycles like the Raleigh R500, Trek 470 and Univega Superstrada, which were all in the $670-$700 range and equipped with Shimano RSX.
