Some local women riders have hiviz pink jackets. The unusual color catches my eye instantly.
Anyway, like previous comments said: blinking lights front and rear, even at noon, are way more visible. They catch the attention of distracted drivers way down the road, where the cyclist is barely visible. I want the drivers to have lots of time before they get close to me.
Even black clothing is more visible than gray or clothing with multiple colors and busy patterns. Roads aren't black -- they are light gray. Roadsides are green, tan, gray usually.

Glean what you will from our fellow two-wheelers:
https://www.headsdontbounce.com/moto...est%20of%20all.
Orange #1, white #2.
Wish the sample sizes were larger.
There's a chance that a rider that chooses orange or white is more cautious or skillful, skewing the data.

That's why, evolutionarily speaking, there are orange tigers...and house cats!

I am not sure what you are asking? are you asking would they be more visible wearing black? Are you asking if they are trying to hide or do they want to be visible?

Ride organizer for the Natchez Trace 444 requires high viz clothing to partcipate in the event. While waiting for my time to go, we got to discussing exactly what is considered hi-viz. He said that the Park Service had performed some study and determined that hot pink was the most visible in all conditions. I have not purchased any hot pink jerseys, and continue to use hi-viz yellow.

The yellow-colored jackets will attract bees and other pollenating insects, keep that in mind if you are allergic to stings.

Always wear a white helmet because I am not bad-ass or trendy. Thought white should be better in the hot sun as well. Just bought two white jerseys for the same reason and after reading the article, am glad I did.

Yes, unless I'm doing all my riding on a trail, I like to have brightly colored clothing on for visibility in traffic. And even on the trail I ride on occasion, I like to be visible as it crosses a lot of roads.

I'll say I hate yellow jackets. Just killed a nest here after a couple stings
