A lot of great bikes (and from different markets) ends up here based on the movements of service people. Good looking bike,

Finally, white cables and such.

Miami Vice with white cables, saddle, bar wrap.

Ready for action but missing white hoods.

Same length as the regular turbo but thicker. I don't dislike it.

Best part is these avenir cages. They're vintage white. My cycling buddy pulled them from his '89 purple rain lemans and gave them to me.

I think my Ironman came with one of those Avenir cages. The other was a Trek, similar white plastic. I replaced them for no particular reason. They worked fine. Didn't feel much heavier than the fancypants pricey carbon fiber cages at the LBS. Definitely lighter than aluminum.

I think I switched the Ironman to a 50Strong white plastic cage on the downtube because it has a good feel for no-look grabbing and reinserting. But it didn't hold securely enough on the seat tube so I put a Tacx cage on there. Holds more securely, but too tight for my taste for the downtube main bottle cage. So I have a functional mismatch. Same on the Trekenstein -- 50Strong cage on the downtube, some other brand lightweight aluminum cage on the seat tube. I've never had a bottle bounce out of the 50Strong cages on the downtube, but did on the seat tube -- that was a yikes moment. Fortunately I was riding solo. I'd hate for anyone to fall over my dropped bottle in a group ride. That's one of my pet peeves -- guys juggling their water bottles to get fancy, then dropping 'em for people behind to trip over. And dropped cell phones. Argh.

Yeah these particular avenir plastic cages are different. No flex in them so you gotta take your bottle straight out and replace the same way.
I actually have another avenir metal cage, I think it's also white. I'd like to use it but I HAVE to have a matching one. My bottles have to be alike as well...just one of those ridiculous things Im about...I mean a bottle should just be a bottle Right?

Yeah, but is the fork bent?

This is why I need an objective eye. First thing I thought was "Lookie all the Dura Ace!"

Is there a reason I don't see many 85s on here? Do people jot like the more tame color schemes as much?

'85 converted to 10 speed friction. Too tall for me; long gone but not forgotten:

It seems to me that 85s are the most rare of the Tange 1 IM.

I was wondering since I just got my hands on silver with dark blue-ish head tube 85. I haven't seen too many of them in this thread so far. It definitely doesn't scream 80s with it's muted and subdued colorway.

That looks great, I'm hoping to find some bar wrap/tape that is a similar color to the head tube.

They don't seem as common as the later '80s Ironmen. I've seen exactly one '85 my size in red, downtown, always locked to a pole. Saw it every time I went by there, for months, maybe more than a year, like it never moved. Closest I've ever been to "liberating" an "abandoned" bike. But it didn't seem to deteriorate so I assumed someone actually rode it and managed to lock it up in precisely the same position every time. Eventually it vanished.

I think that one has been posted here before sitting on the dock of E-bay watching the tide roll away. The price is slowly going down.

Annnnndddd...back in The Club. Picked up this frame from Hazetguy recently, spent some time on touchup and it turned out well.
Turns out a half bottle of Testor's Yellow with one drop of Red is a pretty close match.
This will be the basis for a stationary bike for the winter months, as I can't see myself going back to spin class in the gym any time soon.

It does look really clean....with that fluted stem I hope you got all of the water out of the frame and BB. Glad you didn't use the power washer, if you did you might have "washed" out all of the grease in the bearings....
