Need help with mystery Rossin Quattro Ghibli frame
I just picked up this Rossin Quattro frame and it seems to be a mystery to me. Every Quattro frame I have seen with Gilco tubing is white and red. This one seems to have been originally green and yellow. I have searched everywhere for anything on a Quattro frame in green and yellow and have found nothing. Can anyone shed some light on this one? When I purchased it the story I was told was that the seller used to purchase parts from the Rossin factory and this frame came with others he had purchased in this condition. Apparently Rossin sandblasted it then let it sit until sold. I can only assume they painted it the green yellow then decided they didn't like it or that they were not going to offer that color combination. Also would you think it should have the crowned or smooth fork, Gilco frames had one fork but Quattro frames had another. There are no serial numbers on this one only 58 stamped on the B/B. I have two other Rossins and none of them have serial numbers. I included a picture of a green and yellow Gilco frame also known as a Rossin Ghibli.

I am a Ghibli neophyte, so have nothing to add except my thanks for the post and frame details.

Mario: Hey Luigi! We only paint out Ghiblis green and yellow!
Luigi: *hic* Sorry boss. *hic*
Interesting they only did a partial chrome. So are you going to paint it green and yellow or red and white? Do you have the fork?

It will go back green and yellow, I have another in the same colors but it's not a Ghibli. I don't have the fork yet. I am trying to figure out witch one it should have, there seems to be two possibilities.

Beautiful frame. What's the crankset? Is that a C Record with different chainrings?

Quattro's were most commonly Fuschia and White (not Red or Rossa) Matrix/Cromor frames that most often came equipped with this style fork, not sure I understand your definition of smooth or crowned fork.

2., 3. and 5.) All the same fork common to Record, Super Record, Ghibli, SL, SLX
4.) Common to lower end Cromor
5.) Common to Performance line

I still need to figure which fork this frame came with as it is both a Quattro and a Ghibli. I understand that I may never know for sure. The best I can figure so far is it never existed in the yellow green pink colors but it does have remnants of all three colors in the right places. If there is one there must be more right?

You do not have a Ghibli frame as I mentioned previously. Crimp/ribbed tubing nor diamond chain stays are the characteristic feature of a Ghibli frame. An oversized thick walled BB in combination with crimp tubing, diamond chain stays, pocket brazed drop outs make up some of the characteristic of a Ghibli frame. Your frame like I told you previously is an inexpensive Cormor frame. This is a Ghibli BB which your frame does not have, Cromor, SLX, Oria.......ect tubing all were available as crimp tubing. Who ever told you your frame is a Ghibli frame was deceiving you or sorely mistaken. Also notice how the crimping was done on the green frame, the gradual entrance to the ribbing, not like your abrupt almost squared off crimping on your inexpensive frame.

I don't think he suggested it's a Ghibli; only that he'd only seen the green/yellow on that model. Not much doubt it's a Quattro as it's embossed on the seat stay caps.Either way I'm sure it will look nice when done.

It is positively not a Ghibli, it could be SLX but not likely looking at the other characteristics of the frame.

Second, I did not state it was a Gilco frame i was only referring to the tubing shape.
Third, I was asking for help identifying what it is not to be criticized about it.
But I guess if I knew everything about Rossins as you seem to I wouldn't have to ask for help from this group.

And if you are feeling I criticized you by correcting your misguided assumptions, you have much to learn beyond some simple frame knowledge.

After owning one Rossin assumed you had enough knowledge to know what your second ownership was without spelling it out directly for you, that you might grasp why I mentioned Matrix/Cromor frames, my bad surmise, in the future you will get zero credit.

So on your Record what happened to your pedals, why is it all cross chained up and please rotate your bars around before you hurt somebody. It is a nice bike but does it fit you?
