Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No doubt. I'm not saying I like my TT bike, but I dislike it less as I ride it more.

There are a crap-load of NSAIDS out there. They are likely all roughly equivalent. But your question is akin to asking if the suggested saddle is a good one. You can try it and see how much it agrees with you or consider others to try.

It’s not that complicated. Sometimes we avoid NSAIDS if on steroids because slightly higher risk of stomach problems, but talk to the noctor about it.

For me, enough time on it made it downright pleasant (on suitable rides, without major hills, turns, and traffic); my fit on it is much better than on my roadie, and much more comfortable.

I though have the advantage that when I race on it, I don't have to put myself on the verge of collapse at the end.

Skinny fatbike tires have been selected. $30 for 27.5 x 2.35"

In related news, Universal has Charge Spoon saddles in white on black for $22. Unfortunately their free shipping threshold is $150. Gonna have to take inventory around here and see what I need to add to this cart.

We've had cold damp weather for the last two weeks. Today I had a nice coughing fit/asthma attack. I blame the damp. I want some nice frosty dry days. No riding for me today (or yesterday).

Mo has been helping me with hand issue, and one of the things that might help would be new gloves. I went to dicks, and they carry Garneau products. Do you guys have any recommendations for gloves that would help with the nerves in the hands? The pair I am looking at are 30 dollars, reviews look good, but just wanted some feedback from you ladies and gents.

The total ride was just under 3.5 hours and I ended up drinking over 4 bottles of water.
I drank 4 bottles of water at the shop today. I'm on my second pint glass of water, since I got home this evening.

I threw on another old rear wheel (the stock DT Swiss boat anchor that came on the Roubaix) but I realized why I had it off the bike and on the shelf: for some reason, under heavy load only, the wheel goes side-to-side slightly but enough to rub the rear brake. This is really a drag. The wheel itself spins nice and true. I can’t quite figure out why it does this other than maybe I need to tighten the axle somehow? The QR is plenty tight in the dropout.

Advice?
Uneven spoke tension? Broken Spoke?

Specialized BG Gel. I have the long-finger version.

One thing is to be sure they aren't too tight. I like Garneau gloves but not too thick or too much padding. When I ride my Chorus equipped bike I rarely get hand pain but on the Ultegra bike my left thumb gets sore and hurts for days sometimes. I think it's from torquing on the hoods which are bigger with Ultegra.

I think the main thing is to maintain a light touch on the bars when you can and keep your elbows relaxed.

All of these things are damn handy when you need them. That, I think is the point. You are free not to carry and the other guy is free to carry if he chooses.

The little kitty I feed sometimes came over today to eat. His eye looks pretty good, about all the way open now from being stuck closed last week.
He still looks way too skinny but Mrs John says it's because I'm used to looking at the fat load which is my cat.

thats one of the things we have been discussing. It appears that I have been holding my bars “wrong”. Gripping the bottom of the hoods and putting all the pressure on my palms. I also seem to put more weight on my left hand. When I start out and I am not tired I focus on my form, but as I get tired it starts to slip.
