As per the thread title. I rode a pair of Sidi Energy shoes for a couple of years, but I always felt the outer sides of my feet pressing over the edge of the cup of the sole. I don't know why, but I just put up with it. But eventually I had to face facts and search for a shoe that goes better with a wide foot.

The answer was a pair of Vittoria Evo shoes. They fit more nicely on a wider foot.

So I went from this:

The Vittorias look a lot nicer, too. One other thing: The Sidi Energy's above are size 46, while the Vittoria Evo's below are size 45. Vittoria's fit one Euro size down from most of the cycling shoe brands out there.

Did you have the mega (wide) version of the Sidi?

Actually, yes, I had a pair of Sidi Mega's before I bought the Sidi Energy's in the phote above. But the Mega's still weren't wide enough for me. Sidi's seem to be notoriously narrow.

I've experienced that feeling of the bottom of the foot pressing over the sole on my Mega Sidis so I've been searching for something different....it's good to know that those Vittorias fit the bill.

Interesting that they fit that much better considering the toe box and bridge of the foot appear (as far as I can see in the photo anyway) to be pretty similar.

For me, Bont shoes were 10x better than traditionally shaped shoes. Glad to hear these are working better for you though. Not a good feeling to ride with uncomfortable feet.

The sole of the Vittoria is wider than the Sidi. The volume and fit of the leather upper is similar, but with the Vittoria my foot is flattening down onto the sole without spilling over the rising lip like it did with the Sidi.

I've been lucky with Shimano's wide shoes for my EEE duck feet. It does make finding shoes that fit well a challenge. I read that Lake has a very wide shoe as well.

I have two pair of shoes: Shimano and Lake. both fit my wide feet well.

Having worked in retail 12+ years selling shoes it is surprising how many do not know how to use the Braddock siding device. I have often found when using it that many were wearing shoes too small because they failed to measure their arch length. Many people have a longer arch length than toe length and what was more surprising is when I walk into shoe stores and their measuring device lacks the ability to measure the arch length. From what I have been taught, you always wear the shoe size defined by the larger value of the two measurements.

I was going to say...shimano wides are the answer for me! Unfortunately, their newest r321s only come in whole sizes for the wide. Bummer, I'm stuck with my 320s.

That's odd. I have duck-feet myself and the shape of those Vittorias are a sure fire fail for me.

I've been using Bonts the past 2 years (just the "regular" wide version, can't afford customs) and they're heaven sent.

Giro HV shoes fit me as well as I can hope for, given my foot is 4E at the toe and narrow at the heel.

I'd definitely not judge a shoe by its outward appearance. (coming from running appearances in shoes can be VERY deceiving)

I'll have to check out some Bonts.

I had a pair of Fiziks that did not work for me for specifically the reasons you mentioned (my feet aren't like that). But they were probably the nicest built cycling shoes I have ever had and I likes the looks, too.
