fantasy stage races + general stage racing discussion

on the fantasy side of things, looks like what passes for stage racing this year will be consolidated into a "stage racing challenge."

starts with the tour of poland (which doesn't usually get me revved up too much but has some great riders)

https://www.tourdepologne.pl/en/

nice site. scroll down a bit to find the various stage profiles and rundowns.

the competition then segues into the dauphine which is

always fun. a couple of smaller tours, then the giro and the vuelta if all goes well.

https://www.velogames.com/index_stage_season_20.php

the entry deadline is 13:30 cest (central european summer time) on wednesday, august 5th, 2020.

if you miss the wednesday deadline, you can always enter later for the other races.

if you already entered the "superclasico" classics/one-days competition, you should automaticaly be entered into the bike forums league.

2cam16 less then an hour left on this one.

I almost forgot and got in at the last second. Got a bunch of lesser named GC hopefuls, Powless cause I want to see how switching to EF will affect him. Cav is my sprinter, I need some underdog stories this year!

What happened? Was Groenewegen trying to purposely drift towards the barriers, or was he just all out and not paying attention? I thought you weren't allowed to stray like that? They say he purposely flicked an elbow.

Wasn't this the same way Sagan got DQed in the 2017 TdF, knocking Cavendish into the barrier?

Kind of took the fun out of it just now eh? Race doctor reported

The race doctor told Polish broadcaster Polsat: “It is a severe head and brain trauma. We did what we could, the medical team came immediately.“The biggest problems were with intubation, a huge trauma to the palate, heavy bleeding. The health condition is very serious, it is a direct threat to life.”

deegee was too far left of the barriers at the start of that video to "casually drift" 5 feet or more over to his right and legally shut down jacobsen.
had deegee been within a little more than arm's length of the barriers, he could have closed off the far right lane without issues. not cool.

Groenewegen is gonna suffer some serious repercussions for his actions. Just a terrible decision on his behalf. Praying for Jakobsen and all others injured.

Yeah, I had a two or three of those riders and changed them at the last minute.

Looks like the close battle is for runner-up - betwix me and you..

edit...
Man, those "End-Of-Tour" points did me in and dropped me to the bottom in the Overall. Still not sure what those are about. After stage 4 I'm battling for 2nd place in Overall and have a 2nd place finish in stage 5 ...but finish 4th Overall.

Curtis J smoked it with the top. congrats. we have the dauphiné in a few days so revise your rosters for arguably the best one-week (but only five days this year)
stage race on the yearly calendar. will make an overall prediction on the 11th when rosters finalize. all prognostications welcome.

I took a gap year to rest on my laurels. But the 25% chance of winning this one was enough to make me risk my streak.

jeez...out of 25 or so riders still in contention for the overall dauphiné crown (goodbye soler), i'll go with pogacar to win it all.

Missed getting in on the Dauphine but yeah totally stacked! This is one I have the ability to easily watch along with replays, totally stoked to see EF finish with 4 not missing anytime yesterday! Uran, Higuita, Mcarthy and Martinez. Uran attacking and dragging out some leaders. Good stuff.

so much for my prediction that team jv would lay low and work out any pre-tdf issues. it would appear they’ve already worked out any issues and are in hulk smash mode. none of the other riders could bridge any portion of the finishing gap that roglic opened up at the end. impressive.

Awesome. Do the helper points for the rest of us in the bf league get added in at the end or?

no because he's ridden multiple wheelies over us. now if one of us can go team cinzano and jam a frame pump into his spokes...

things are quite topsy-turvy... i'll take sivakov tho, to win the last stage. ineos needs to salvage something positive. guillaume martin would be my second pick. both have shown good form lately.
pinot is looking good too. if roglic is unable to start or finish, i like pinot's chances to hold on to the overall vs martin, landa, martinez, lopez. pogacar or quintana might go on a flyer tho...
