Bought a broken BMW 2009 cruiser need advice
I bought this bike used and got it serviced bought a new wheel. They didn't see there was a break in the frame before working on it neither did I. Got my money back from the seller but still sunk money in. The bike repair people I've talked to said the frame is too strong to collapse or bend while riding it and I could probably use it safely on asphalt until I either see it start bending over time or that the second one breaks. One side is clean break and the other side is broken on the inside. Is it safe to use this ? Imgurdotcom /gallery/N3ON7If

Kind of amazing the shop didn't see it. That's a great example of "tunnel vision".
EDIT: I said "great"... should have said "egregious"!

Save the BMW insignia. Might be worth something on Ebay. Probably not the same thing for the car but maybe? ORIGINAL BMW Roundel REAR TRUNK Lid Emblem Logo Badge Sign 1999-UP CHECK FITMENT | eBay Hell that might look good on my Hyundai.

I'd probably take a Sawzall to the frame so that someone didn't get the bright idea of pulling it out of the trash, building it up and trying to ride it.

Sure! Why not? Try it out a few times going over 30 mph on a windy descent with oncoming traffic. You only live once, and we're all going to die anyway. Might as well go out doing something you love on something you can't trust.

My advice still holds, cut it first so the recycler doesn't try to re-use it; they pay by weight so your value will be the same. The military did this to surplus Vietnam-era Jeeps which were not considered roadworthy for civilian use. I am in the electronics field, and when I find a bad cable I always cut off the ends so nobody pulls it from the trash and tries to use it and put themselves in the position I just got myself out of.
