These are great all rounder bikes. I had an MC-7500 which while cool for the Tange Prestige, lacked the braze ons and relaxed angles that make an example like this so perfect for cruising around or bombing forest services routes.

.... dang! just saw the Grand Rapids bike shop sticker! why can't you be further away! I really don't "NEED" this bike, so I'm sure someone will scoop it up before I think about it too long.

Anyway- how fat a tire is on the bike?
2in? Don’t look like you could go much bigger around the rear brake.

This is awesome. MTBs of this era are a good mix of laid back geometry but not too laid back like the first mountain bikes. I commuted on a 87 Gary Fisher with a U Brake for a couple years and it was awesome. Amazing all-arounder. This Panasonic would be great with a Wald front basket and you'd get approving nods from the cool bike kids if you put a neat basket bag from Swift, North St, or Makeshifter or someone similar.

The only drawback on these u-brake late 80's MTB's is your pretty much stuck with 1.50 rims and 1.95 tires if you want stuff to work good which isn't a big deal .

bump - in hopes someone else will (or has) picked this bike up already.
in the mean time: top tube length: about 60cm? this looks very close to my RockHopper - which is set up for more touring than trails. so wouldn't it be nice to have a lugged touring frame and my RockHopper set up for single track trail riding?
definitely no rush. it'd help my case if I could get my too small RockHopper sold first.....
