Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to relate to this so wherever you see the word "yarn" mentally replace it with "bikes" or "bike parts" or "tools".

I had a whole bunch of items in a spare room at my mom's house and she decided she wanted to use the room for something else. (Okay. My sister wanted to move out of her own place and move back to sleep in that room which I think is really weird.) I had sorted through many things and donated some and thrown some out and I thought I was making good progress but, apparently, I wasn't going fast enough for my mom. Because one day she called me and said "So, the rest of the stuff in those Rubbermaid bins, we can just give that to Goodwill. Right?"
I said "What Rubbermaid bins? You mean the yarn?"
"Yes. They'll take it, right?"
"Of course, they will." I was trying not to hyperventilate.
"I mean, it's not worth anything, is it? Didn't you say a lot of it was given to you?"
"What do you mean it's not worth anything? Even the stuff that was a gift is $25 to $35 a skein. Oh my God!"
"Well, I thought it would save everyone a lot of time and aggravation if we just took the bins down to Goodwill and nobody has to sort them."
By then, I was holding my head and groaning and saying "Hundreds of dollars of yarn and you were going to drop it at Goodwill."
Needless to say, LoP and I stacked it neatly in the garage where it would at least be out of her sight until I can get back there to properly house it. But you can imagine my horror, right?

I spent the day working on my resume and job applications because I just can't take this job I'm in for another whole year and it's time to make some changes. Anyone have any New Year's resolutions to share?

Yes, I pledge to ride my bike this year. And I pledge to be a kinder, gentler mod.
