Some folks just can't help themselves.

Back to Europe though. Considering the manufacturers want global trade, Shimano is doing it's best to stifle it.

On a related note, I bought some LX hubs from a German retailer earlier this summer, but that seems to be shut down now, and a few weeks ago I bought some ultegra hubs on ebay that had this disclaimer:
What happened to your well declared ban on Shimano due to the very reason this thread exists?

I wondered if anyone would notice that. The allure of inexpensive cup-and-cone hubs proved too much for me to resist.

After the number of forced into conversation declarations you have made about how you refuse to support Shimano, itd be tough for many regulars to not notice.
This isnt just dripping with irony, its flat out sweating irony out of every pore. Too funny.

But hey- you got a good product at a good price. Cant be upset with that!

I rationalized it to myself because I got the touring hubs from Germany before they shut that channel down and the road hubs through an OE seller on ebay before they eventually shut that channel down. Lame excuses I know, but they were just so darned cheap. When they are twice the price at MSRP, they won't be such a great deal anymore, and it will be easier for me to follow through on my boycott

Ha, I just saw this.

Someone chooses to quote a comment from page 1 of a 6 page thread that has been dead for 7 months, and you berate a different poster for trying to get a zombie thread locked? The other poster revived the zombie thread to begin with! And to then use the banal phrase 'triggered snowflake' on top of it?!?
Thats some funny misdirected hostility.

Hey- no need to justify to me. I totally get it. You dont like a setup, but with finite resources comes compromises so you use that which you dont like. <---that describes much of my buying pattern.

Shops of course are rejoicing, but I am sitting here and dying a little bit on the inside. Because Chain Reaction has provided a glimpse of what's possible when the supply-chain is made shorter and more efficient. Few things have contributed to my enjoyment of cycling as much as the ready availability of modestly-priced parts and the wide selection that's been available on the Internet.
You can use forwarding services to get packages from Europe to the US.

They're common in Germany where domestic ebay sellers don't like to export.

@Drew Eckhardt can you recommend any particular European forwarding service?

It may not be worth it, as you will have to pay the 19 or 20% VAT and then the forwarding service's charge and then freight too.
