Building dream bike- Zipp NSW 404 or Enve SES 4.5?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was looking at the SES 4.5. What is the "AR"?

Sorry I had a quick look at the Zipps and you want the SES 4.5 not the AR wheels.

I would personally still get the Enves, but my reasons probably don't apply to you. Probably the Zipps are slightly more aerodynamic, but I could be wrong.

Check out the recent "Will 31mm super wide wheels become the new standard" thread

I'm guessing the answer is "no" since as far as I can tell the AR's are disc only, and the Zipp 404 NSW are rim-brake.

Pinarello F8 Dogma, Canyon Aeroad, or Specialized Tarmac S-Works with Dura Ace 9100 Di2, and Zipp 404 NSW/Enve SES 4.5

Zipp hoops are nice, but their hubs have a long history of problems/recalls.

That was addresed in 2016 with the new 177/77 hubs. The 2015 and earlier have been recalled.

I would say Enves for the sole reason that you can set them up tubeless.

Actually, I vote for Bontrager Aeolus 5's, but they don't say ENVE on the side, so you won't buy them because your friends won't think you're as cool.

But the ENVE's are awesome. Get those. And I know you may be thinking "but I won't ever set them up tubeless." But it's better. and you should do it. and you'll like it.

Remind me of the last big recalls by Shimano and Campagnolo.

Zipp(SRAM) has a long history of hub issues.

Not interested in a fanboy (either brand) point of view.

Fanboy?

I'm pointing out a fact. Zipp has a history of hub problems.

Sorry if facts bother you.

What do do really expect to hear about these wheel sets? They are both excellent wheels from top manufacturers. There will be nothing in it as far as performance goes, just get whatever set you like.

would suck to crash a 10k bike.

Personally I'd go ENVE w/ DT hubs

I own Enve Ses and Zipps both and if I could have only one, it would be the zipps.

I'm curious as well. I have owned both, but due to the hub problems I had with my old Zipps, I would go with Enve.

After 2 cracked Zipp hubs, I replaced the hubs with White Industries H3 hubs, and they were trouble free from that point on.

Why do you think the Zipps are better than the Enves?
