@Slightspeed, I love the medieval blacksmith comment. Have you seen the 1947 film on the making of Raleigh bikes? They put brass sleeves under the lugs and toss the whole frame into a hearth. I wouldn't expect it to work as well as it did, but it helps explain this look.
Slightspeed, is that a replacement fork? I bet I've seen a hundred or more early-70s Super Courses but I don't recall one with that crown. It's nice looking though, quite appropriate.

I have to agree with Mark. Nestor C. was a long time customer, and he never ceased to amaze with his incredible skills. Some people might not get the 'design' aspects, but simply pondering the execution is enough to leave you gob-smacked!

While it doesn't grab you initially, it may when you find out Jim carved these fork crowns from a solid block of steel.
This one has taken a very big hit and the TT, DT and fork blades have some buckle but zero kinking, cracking or separation at all.

I'm not positive what I'm looking at but it looks like that crown was not fully brazed to the steerer from what I see in the first pic.

My 1978 Eisentraut "A" immediately after Ed Litton painted it 8 or 10 years ago, It is less pristine now, but still looks great.

With the canti's, that hole must be for a fender mount, I'm not sure exactly what we're looking at either, I'll take a harder look at it next time I have it out and maybe get some more pics.

My favourite Mark DiNucci flourishes were the chainstay bridge and front derailleur tab he created for the 40th Anniversary Specialized Allez (I know it's a bit sad to get off on chainstay bridges and derailleur tabs, but hey):
