Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I read Stereophile magazine for a number of years, till I got my system put together - AR EB101 turntable, Conrad Johnson PV7 Preamp, Aragon 2004 power amp, Magneplanar 2.5R speakers.

Then I let the subsciption lapse, and got married. That system, with a variety of CD players, has been going strong for 34 years now. I remember when I bought it because it was the year I got married. I guess I'm lucky to have bought the system FIRST, eh?

Yeah, I bought some new speakers a couple years ago, and I still get grief about them.

When I was a yute I could tell I was listening to a CD by critically listening to the cymbals. They'd sound too crunchy on CD.

Now that I'm old and half deaf and it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

Cymbals were always what I listened to in choosing speakers. Never cared for a bass predominant sound. Liked balance with nicely rendered cymbals.

The rjones28 high fidelity equipment was purchased after the wedding. It was a joint enterprise. It's still going strong.

Velo Vol is uncharacteristically quiet during the vinyl discussion. I think he needs to hear a song that's in his wheelhouse.

I bet he secretly listens to nothing but stoner rock. Surely this track is shaking his neighbor's windows right now.

OMG, trying to set a record for most guesses with 3 letters locked in! One of them was a word I didn't know - simar, as defined in the 1913 Webster's Dictionary, is "a woman's long dress or robe; also light covering; a scarf." The word is derived from Frenchsimarre, and is also written as cimar, cymar, samare, and simare.

I have a cheap little blue tooth speaker and my phone.
And I don't listen to much music anymore.

Nope. Listening to, and playing live music.

What a night. We had eight new people show up. The old Knoxville Community Band is back!

Fun Fact: Knoxville Community Band concert recordings are distributed on the proper music medium.

8 degrees this morning, going to be 5 at 9:00 am. Super fun times!

Had to run new windshield solvent squirter lines in the Firebird yesterday. Due to the hard plastic factory line becoming so brittle any stress at all on it caused it to snap.
Got a weird message from ebay yesterday about the tunning service I sent my ecm (from the Avalanche) to for the AFM delete. So, I had to track him down and give him a call. Turns out his "guy" for ecm work has covid and there will be a delay. It just goes on, and on, and on.......
