Nice work. That paint is in pretty decent shape. That bike won't look as sharp if you strip it down to the chrome. That's my 2 cents worth.

I think you're really going to like this bike once you get out and ride it. I did a resto mod not unlike this on my 70s Fuji Finest and it is a great ride.

This is my build thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ld-thread.html

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's and older road bikes.

I had one that was stripped down before I got it and hated it. I gave that away to a lbs kid a few years ago. I now have a painted one, but the chrome is in poor shape and flaking. I've seen another Newest with flaking chrome, so I wonder if it was done well.

If you are looking for advice, stick with the paint.

Yes, bikemig, I have read your post previously. I thought if I got a Fuji it would be a higher end and early 70s based on posts like yours. The paint was fairly beat up on this one when I got it and a more skilled person could have done a much better job than me. I didn’t want the total chrome either as mentioned by beech333. Size wise it fits well, and interestingly with my crude measurements, it seems to be low trail which I have been enjoying on a couple other bikes lately. I will get some better pics out if the weather ever cooperates.

I got carried away

Nearing completion, but I had a bit too much time and took some fun liberties to see if I liked it. Stock decals were kinda in your face for 1972 anyhow, and it was a flashy era, so why not go a bit further? Almost nothing is stock anyhow, so I can always put it back to how I had it previously. I will get some better pics in the near future and a more detailed write up. I did take about a 3 mile ride and was very pleased.

Impressive transformation from the start to its current state. Looking forward to another report.
