The frame geometry and upswept bars reveal the resemblance. That and its an all around commuter as the classic clubman/path racers were surely intended to be.

Period Vintage???
You're just making up words now!
ya know you could have a pretty amazing vintage stable if you just went and bought a bunch of new bikes and stuck em in a shed for 50 years.

No one cares
And it still won't remotely resemble a club or path racer any more than a schwinn varsity with campy 11speed.

"The sheer variety of club rides and riders demanded a versatile and popularly priced mount, one that was lightweight, but with more relaxed frame angles than a pure racing type, as well as mudguards and lighting equipment for all-year, all-weather use."
Retro Raleighs: The Raleigh Clubman by Peter C. Kohler
If I re-installed the drop bars on my Internat'l it would be a Clubman, as equipped not really.

Very cool! Reminds me of my teenage years. We were inspired more by racing bikes than club bikes. We were aware of chromoly frames with lightweight components, but what was available to us was old, ratty 3 speeds mostly pieced together from junk day finds. We stripped off the fenders and chainguards, flipped the northroads upside down and became road racing superstars terrorizing the neighborhood.

In the stand at the moment is a Juenet frame that'll be fitted with 650B wheels (originally made for 700c), 38mm tires, a rear Sturmey-Archer AW hub with alloy shell, front wheel with SP generator hub, Nervar 122bcd crankset, Weinmann CP brakes, drop bars of some sort. Might go with a bar-end shifter. Or maybe a quadrant shifter on the top tube!

'57 Raleigh that's almost a club bike. 2 speed with alloy components delivers a nice ride.

Just Found This Thread While Looking For Something Else!
I think we need to revive it!
I have one of each, actually.
First, my 1949 Raleigh Clubman, built up in Patina-Prestoration:
Hey! Did I just invent / "coin" a phrase? Prestoration = Preservation of patina and restoration of all mechanical bits.
Then there is my Pashley Path Racer:
This was a `70s or `80s Touring Roadster that I converted to a Path Racer. With drums instead of rod-brakes, single-speed instead of 3, (Still Sturmey-Archer though!), and a proper handlebar, now it's a comfy town-bike with a sportier look.
I hope to see more of your bikes done up in the same theme.
Here's another, more recent shot:

An actual Club bike from the days of Club bikes
Club bikes and their owners were driven by sport. Namely, the fairly new at the time, Tour de France.
1938 Armstrong Moth Sport
OG Chro-Mo frame, Lauterwassen bars and 18/16t flip flop rear hub.

macstuff I love it. After I finish up a mess of three 1950s British club bikes I'm restoring I plan to go back to do one from the '30s. That Armstrong Moth is a wonderful example! Did you have to import it from England or was it already stateside? Cheers!
