Raleigh "International" decal borrowed from Reg Harris!

Hello folks,

For those of you who are interested in the Raleigh products of the bike boom era, I thought a little something I just figured out might be fun to share... Until 1972 Raleigh Internationals featured a top tube decal that said the word "International" in red letters surrounded by a red border. I just came across an earlier-1960s Raleigh-made road bicycle branded as a Reg Harris International. Very few of those bicycles were made but I noticed immediately that the decal was identical! So the forefather of our Raleigh International may not in fact have only been the Carlton International with its fancy lugs, but perhaps also this rather homely little Reg Harris!

-Gregory

I know that this version was used for the first Internationals from 1970-1972 (in 1969 the Competition was offered with the same frame that would become the International). After 1972 it didn't have any outline and was a script version that matched the downtube Raleigh decal.

It's very much like the Legnano logo, VERY much (this is a repro vinyl transfer, the originals were stencil-painted as it appears the Reg Harris above is.):

Homage? Harris had no Legnano connection as far as I know.
