FS: MAFAC Racer brake set
Here's a complete MAFAC Racer brake set from an early 70s Peugeot. Condition is good, and every part is there, including front and rear hangers (and front ferrule). Brake hoods show some discoloration and wear, but are supple. Pads show little wear, but likely should be sanded down or replaced. Brake reach is about 65mm, so possibly a good candidate for a 650B conversion.
Price is $40 shipped in the CONUS from zip 02446. Payment via PayPal F&F or Venmo.

Tempting. I wonder how difficult it would be to convert these to recessed brakes, to go on a frame where I would otherwise use Paul Racers.
For anyone on the fence, NLerner is a good seller. I've bought from him at least 3 times.

I have no plans for yet another bike so I'll pass. But your photo nicely demonstrates why I like those levers so much (at least until I discovered aero levers - my C&V disqualifier). That wonderful rounding and near complete closure of the lever itself at the hood body. I could wrap all my fingers under the hood, honk up 18% grades on a 42-14 and not chafe my index finder. Blue Hill outside Boston to the Weather Observatory. I was young and hadn't got the word yet on what gears I should have been riding. Lived two miles away.
To this day, those lever undersides are the kindest to these hands I've ever ridden.

Should be pretty easy. I regularly replace the stock bolt with bolts from Ace Hardware to turn rears into fronts. (Do the reverse with Weinmann calipers. That combo stiffens and weakens the brake so the feels front/rear match and the actions are appropriate.)

It's not difficult at all. You need a die to extend the threads on the front and rear, which is a little tricky with the chrome: use a vise, use cutting fluid, go slow. Then you need the recessed nuts. It's maybe a 15 minute job, tops.

Heading up that Blue Hill Observatory climb is a common Sunday ride for me, Ben, during non-winter days (did head up there last spring while temp was below freezing and the ice flow across the road near the top was scary stuff). Can't say I'd ever do it on a 42-14, however!
Blue Hill is a special place for me. I grew up on a lot off Canton Ave that backed up to the Reservation. Could walk out the door, down the horse/fire path past the house, then fire roads, walking trails (and often bushwacking) to the top. Was given a belt I still love by the gal I was head over heels with on my 17th birthday/very first Earth Day at the top.

Would have been worth the $40 for the cool lever condoms covers alone. Someone should make repros, it nothing else just to hide scarred levers.
