Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I brought hedge trimmers on my off-road ride. I trimmed back all the bushes and trees that drew blood. Still some nuisance brush on the trail but it's now passable without fear of lacerations and thorn puncture wounds.

I had a freehub body split lengthwise while climbing a steep grade. I was in the lowest gear and it was as if the chain broke. I don't know how I got unclipped in time but I didn't fall. The road was so steep my cleats were slipping trying to walk and I had to walk in the dirt next to the road.

I wonder how they decide whether to name a football team after a city, state, or region.

Carolina Panthers is so vague. New England Patriots too.

I was doing the short climb near my house that starts many of my rides. Less than a mile from home. I coasted back to the house.

How much does the owner need to market to an entire region?

Like the "Tennessee" Titans--so named because Nashville isn't big enough to support a team no one cares about.

Seems like Boston is enough market for the Patriots, but dunno. I reckon the Cardinals want to make sure people will drive up from Tucson so they're Arizona Cardinals. Probably true about Nashville too.

I still need to email the ownership in DC about erasing the location from their name. The Football Team would be sooooo awesome.

Actual city for all teams would be hilarious. East Rutherford Giants. Glendale Cardinals. Arlington Cowboys.

An Italian cousin for your Tempo!

Also, I'm shocked that the censor allowed that. Maybe it's not as dumb as it seems @datlas ?

Day 13, and UP 4013 brings a detective challenge! This has to be one of the most atmospheric Big Boy pictures out there. However, I can't read the road number of what looks like another 4000 next to 4013 and I've been unsuccessful in finding out a photo credit or location for this image. If anyone knows, please comment, and I will update this post. I believe it's from 1958.

IMO the censor is a very blunt instrument. And dumb.
