1973 Peugeot PX-8L

I was thinking about picking this one up. Looks like an early-70s PX-8L, rather poor shape. Anyone know if these came with 27 x 1-1/4 rims or 700c? It caught my eye because I have a '75 PX-50L in the same Champagne color, and, with already having a PX-10, and a PX-50, why shouldn't I have a PX-8?

I'm guessing it would be okay at $100 if the wheels and tires are in good shape. Any thoughts on it?

seller states they purchased it new in Germany which would suggest a wheel size of 700C yet tubes have schrader valves which would suggest a 27" wheel. if, for example, it were purchased at the PX by a U.S. military person wonder which market version it would have been.

shift levers have been replaced.

the chrome NERVAR chainguard it wears was first used in 1972.

the tired looking saddle is likely an ADGA 28A.

odd that it shows dynamo mounting boss yet no lighting equipment. below is a catalogue page showing model PX8E of 1973 as coming with lighting, mudguards and rack -

It looks to be mid level Euro light touring and not a PX frame, notice it has lot of clearance on the wheels with 27 wheels and light bracket so it was made for 27's and likely had fenders light new. As for value with a bunch of none original semi random lower end parts and rough shape about $100 is all it's worth. I would pass on this one it will cost way more than it would be worth to fix it up to make a nice rider.

I think $50 would be a stretch. Not much there.

I would offer 50-60 at most. But then, I have a lot of experience with old Peugeots, and a pile of suitable parts.

Big pass here. I tend to see a lot of good deals on bikes in Florida. This isn’t one of them. Needs a lot of love, high priced, and you will have to spend more on it before you are done.

Check out GT racing bike for $155, it’s a deal! It’s been for sale for a while so probably some room for an offer. Choice #2 1979 Miyata 912. Choice 3: Cannondale $150, all Shimano 150.

All three of those bikes have been for sale for several weeks, either they are gone or sellers are flexible.
