Fulcrum racing 5 vs 5.5 (What's the diff?)
Hey guys!
What's the difference between the fulcrum racing 5's and the 5.5's?
I've been searching the web, but haven't really been able to find anything other than that the 5.5's were made for Cervélo.

5.5 is going to be an incremental step down from Fulcrum 5's which btw are very good training wheels...I have two sets and love them.
the .5 is a slight deviation from the factory 5's...either different hub, rim or spokes...likely spec'ed by Cervelo.
Fulcrum makes wheels expressly for the OE bike makers which is a slight deviation from their factory wheels which btw are made by Campy.
Will it matter much? No, probably not.

Focus bikes also have their own mix of the Fulcrum. Pretty much all models come with a .5 variation of the regular Fulcrum. I guess Cervelo has them as well. Like Campag already said, probably just some minor difference. But I do like how they come to match the bikes. Gives a nice little touch.

Follow up, almost 2 yrs to the date. This wheel, Fulcrum racing 5.5, was still in included on the Cervelo r3 for 2014. Fulcrum support document found here page 144 identifies this wheel as a "custom wheel" for Cervelo, and identifies "reference wheel" as a RACING 6 model year 2011, black & white sticker. Now, the "6" model has a somewhat mysterious history, as it has appeared as stock OEM for Spesh and Focus in the past as well, but never publicly branded as "6". Regardless, it's an aluminium 622 with ERTO 15 width, and has a very similar (if not identical) hub to the 2014 Racing 7.

I just googled it up, a guy on the cervelo forum says the wheel set is around 1900g for the 5.5 while the 5.0 are quoted at 1645g so a lot of difference

Where is this Cervelo forum post?. The few hits I got on google all say 1645-1650 grams. One write up says over 100 grams lighter than previous design. The Fulcrum 6 are 1760, so a 1900 gram wheelset should be called 6.5

I had Racing 5 fitted OEM to my Focus Izalco, and my wife had Racing. 5.5 fitted OEM to her Specialized Ruby. I weighed both wheels together, sans cassette, and her 5.5 were almost 500g heavier. So seems to fit what is posted above.
Both wheelsets gave excellent service.
