Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you wanna roll silver wheels, maybe go silver seatpost w/ slimmer black clamp or probably black post slimmer silver clamp.

do you really need 60 or 80mm valve stems for 30ish deep wheels?

You have got to rotate those bars down. They are pointing to the moon!

I think I'll move the levers up on the bars 5-10 mm and rotate the bars back down a bit, when I install the barcons I'm going to try.

btw, I appreciate your discretion regarding the unmentionables!

Using the left pedal to support the bike against the curb didn’t let me get the cranks quite level. Sad. Probably too much going on in the background, too.

Alternate “jaunty angle” shot…

Hot Bike. A couple things I wouldn't do/use on my own bike, (rim brakes and carbon clinchers, those bars look ouch with those super tight and vertical drops, and man I've had one of those seats and it was terrible) but if you're okay with it, I'm okay with it.

I lol'ed a bit at the chain stay heel rub, but then I saw the Speedplay X's and instantly understood. Part of the reason I ended up with zeros.

Nice collection of parts, but do you really expect to use all those spacers? I think I'dve gone for a different frame if so.

The textured brake track on Enve rims is extremely effective. Also, I don't ride the road in the rain, so wet breaking concerns aren't concerns for me. I'm not sure what you mean by "super tight" related to the bars. This bike fits me very comfortably, including the SQLabs seat.

Yeah....Xs. These things happen. Since all of my road bikes use the same pedals, I'm not inclined to make a change.

Did you miss the part about waiting for stem and spacers to finalize cables and hoses? Those just gave me space to run the cables and hoses.

I get that you're excited about your new bike, and it will probably be pretty hot when it's all done. At the moment, however, it's kind of a mess. You did get your valve stems almost aligned, and your cranks almost level, so there is that going for you.

Keep in mind that this is the thread of unreasonable bike criticism, and a sense of self-deprecating humor is recommended.

Good to know about the Enve brake track--the carbon rim brake wheels I used circa 2015 were terrifying dry or wet. And I live in the mountains and I'm 195-200 pounds, so heat buildup is a big concern of mine as well. If I lived somewhere flat and dry, and I was 150 pounds, I wouldn't think twice. For the "tight" bars, I'm talking about how the drop portion is very vertical and short, I'm not sure I could get the palm of my hand on there. And the sq-lab saddle, oof. I've tried one and didn't like it at all, it kinda pitched me forward on my soft bits.

But anyways--those are personal things, the bike looks good, I just wouldn't ride it like it is.

Ah, didn't understand your first post. So you just put a ton of spacers on to get the cables in there. I thought you had put it in your approximate spot before you trimmed the steerer.

I'm not a lightweight guy (currently 182), but I have no concern with the performance of these wheels, in any terrain. For the bars, I generally prefer a smooth curve, but these are fine for my hands. The saddle was on the bike when I bought it (used), and it was immediately a good fit for me. That's the thing about saddles - totally personal.

No sweat, once I get the right stem and internal spacer set it’s off to the fitter, then cutting the steerer tube and finalizing the cable, and hose lengths since it’s all internal cables.

See I misremembered the rules the crank arm is in line with the chainstay, and about those valve stems it’s all a matter of perspective,

Threw these wheels on to trouble shoot an issue. Thought they looked rather good so snapped a picture. Unfortunately, it’s not rideable in this current configuration. Will have to get new brake calipers. The old Ultegra calipers don’t have enough reach to put the brake pads where superteam recommends them.

That looks pretty sharp for an older frame...mostly. Cranks aren't level, stems aren't accurately aligned in a vertical position, and you didn't quite get to biggie-smalls. Personally, I think a triple doesn't look right on a racy bike. I do like the color coordination of the seat post clamp to tie in with the non-original fork.
