Bent Lowers - Any ideas..

Bent Lowers - Any ideas..
Hello!
I have 1 bent lower leg on my Rockshox Lyrik ( Air spring side). Towards the end of travel at about 150mm in out of 180 total. The dent is about 0.8cm long and maybe 3mm deep ..
It kind of blocks travel. I can force the upper leg in there but it would end up scratched or bent also.
I tried to fix it with some own ideas/improvisations but no success.
Is this something than can be usually fixed? Any ideas?

If you provide a url of some form, someone here can use that to upload the pics.
If this is truly a bend/dent in the lower, and it limits travel, I suspect that a new lower will be required. If I'm seeing the pics correctly, the lowers are cast aluminum. You could try to line bore the dent out on the ID, but that would probably mean that your seal would be compromised and you'd lose any shock-absorbing ability in the range where the seal interfaces with the dented area.
Aluminum is generally a poor material to try to rebend back to an original shape, especially trying to cold form the workpiece. Is the pic below similar to the part that is bent?

Either replace the just lowers or the fork if you want something else, or you get a good enough deal on the same one.

Your missing the point. Go to your file server - where ever on the web you've uploaded your pictures to (Google pics works). Get the url. You CAN include a URL in your posts. Make a post with the url in the text. With that URL someone else can go to the URL and upload the pics. This should allow more informed people than me to look at it and tell you whether it can be fixed or is dead.

Thanks, cxwrench. I'd looked at the specs - the upper fork tubes are specified as aluminum. I guess I just assumed that the lowers would be, too.
I grew up working in a machine shop in my dad's small manufacturing plant. We made lawnmowers. Mostly big honkin >20HP units. But we did make one 18" walk-behind with a magnesium deck. Cool stuff, except that exposed Mg corrodes.

Thanks! Will try to tinker around with it. Ordered an exhaust pipe expander and will try to smooth it from the inside. Was wondering if it would be better done cold or heated up a bit with a heat gun.
