The rear tire on the Seven was flat this morning. Took a look at the tire before pulling out the tube and found a scuff on the sidewall like from a rock. The tube had a big hole like it would from a pinch flat, like when I tried to put air in it the air leaked out so fast it was hard to tell where it was leaking. How did I ride to the end of the ride on Tuesday, up a small climb, a 20 minute car ride, then put it in the garage without it going flat?
Did someone sneak it out and ride it and put it back? Maybe it was weakened and the super high temp in the garage finished it off?

The guy on Ebay with the 24" 1988 Schwinn Circuit frame and fork dropped his opening bid last night, so I set up a snipe and got it. Paid too much, IMO, but I can't think of any other way to get the correct fork with a long enough steerer for the 23" frame. The 23" has a complete Sante BB in good condition, which is nice. I washed it this morning and the next step was to polish the paint with Scratch-X. The frame came from Colorado, so although there are a LOT of chips in the paint I see no rust. I touched it up with the paint I used on the 22" Circuit.
Here's a pic of the frame as it is now...
The decals are looking slightly scabrous, especially the "SCHWINN" on the drive side of the seat tube. I MAY try to touch those up. Not decided yet. VeloCals does not have these, unfortunately.

Someone in the FB group "I love road cycling" posted about this. Said it was part of a ride called The Amish Country Ride. Said the rider crossed wheels and fell into the traffic lane.

What cassette / ratios is the 11 spd 105 ?
I've been told the 11-34 11 spd cassette will work on most (all ?) of the earlier 9 and 10 spd hubs / freehubs ... (?) ... no interference with the drive-side spokes etc
what brand / type hub ?
was there a spacer / shim behind your old cassette ?
( I'm following especially because I might upgrade a Sora 9 spd gravel bike I recently acquired )

My friends did say that, as is typical, cyclists of all abilities were on the road and were misbehaving, riding 5 abreast, sometimes crossing the center line, etc., if you have ever done an organized big ride like a charity ride you know this. That danger factor is why I avoid large, mass-start events and choose to do small group rides with 4-10 friends who I know and trust to ride as safely as possible. I was invited and even encouraged to do the mass start century yesterday but chose to skip it.
Be careful out there, kids!

The roads I ride on typically have NO shoulder but thankfully I ride on back roads with minimal traffic.

I was not on the ride. My friends saw the aftermath likely a few minutes after the crash. It happened along the route. I know the rider was struck by a pickup, but unclear if he crashed and then hit by pickup (sounds plausible) or if pickup clipped rider and caused the crash.
Either way, it’s a tragedy for the rider and his family.
My friends did say that, as is typical, cyclists of all abilities were on the road and were misbehaving, riding 5 abreast, sometimes crossing the center line, etc., if you have ever done an organized big ride like a charity ride you know this. That danger factor is why I avoid large, mass-start events and choose to do small group rides with 4-10 friends who I know and trust to ride as safely as possible. Agree. The only mass start event I have planned is the Mallorca 312, and I am rationalizing its safety because only experienced cyclists are likely to be on the course, plus they close the course to cars. It’s on April 29, 2023. Care to join us??

Arm sore at injection site. Very mild body aches, not even painful but awareness.
Not that it makes a big difference, but I ended up getting the Pfizer bivalent shot. All previous ones were Moderna. I believe effectiveness is roughly equivalent.
