Finally got this put together and out for a very short test ride. 1954 Monsoon, the lugs are what hooked me...

I've got an ongoing search on eBay for a tandem, and this came up. It looks a bit ropey, but it may be of interest to someone here. Sadly my partner wouldn't be able to get on it, and I already have a 1980 Mistral in the garage to do up, otherwise I'd have grabbed it, especially given the location.

Echoplex, that looks really nice. I did my Moser bars in aero, too. Did you bevel the skirt on the B17, or is that just the bottom of the skirt?

Hey @1989Pre, the brazons type indicates a later addition, probably when the bike was repainted. That's the one detail of the bike I'm not super happy about but I can deal with it. I wasn't sure about the Campy dropout / hanger at first either, but it has the little spring hole drilled in it and appears to be early Gran Sport and so appears to be original.
I took it out on a 30 mile ride yesterday after reducing some front hub rumble. It rides as nice as it looks, I'm a happy camper.

Yep, the quality of the lug work is great.
The lugs are also thinned. you can see it in places, and the brazing is about perfect.
Much better than my £20 1952 Bertin.
I decided not to repair/smooth the rust damage on the lugs, that's part of the history, and it's getting about 10 layers of paint anyway.

Rides really nicely, more lively than my Avanti (non butted 531) but I'm still dialling it in.
And even better the brakes don't squeal !!!! (2mm toe in)

Here is the tiny 1981 Holdsworth Special that I purchased today. The crankset is Avocet, the hubs are Avocet and the rims are Ambrosio. The rest of the components are pretty much lower end. I plan on breaking it down and build it back up with Shimano 600 components which I have in my parts bin. I paid $30 for it and doubt whether I will have to spend any more on it. I think it will be going to my granddaughter when she gets older. We can ride our Holdsworth's together. I will post a picture when completed.
