Just bought my first bike
I'm new to cycling. I just bought this from ebay:
Trek Madone 5.1 Carbon Road Bike 2 x 11 Ultegra 6800 Bontrager RL 56 cm / L.
It hasn't arrived yet. Anybody know anything about this bike? I paid $1250 for it. Looks like its in very good condition and it does have a 30 day return policy. Any thoughts?

If it's in good condition you have a very nice bike. Madone is Trek's racing model so I'd expect an aggressive geometry. Based on being an Ultegra equipped Madone the closest current equivalent is the $4700 SL 6.
The only thing bad I could think about the bike is if the fit is wrong.

If it fits you, has the gearing for the terrain you ride and your current level of fitness and is appropriate for the genre of riding you do, then go for it, since you already went! <grin>

I've been riding a Madone 4.5 with 105 components for 10 years. Comfortable to cruise on but fast and responsive when you need it. This is a really nice first bike--enjoy it and keep your eyes and ears open in the road

Congrats! I think you bought a good bike at a good price. When you start riding don't be surprised if it feels uncomfortable at first, Be patient, your body will adjust. I'm 71 and just took up road bikes a few years ago. It was quite an adjustment going from a MTB to a road. I'm still working on bringing some skills that I took for granted on the mountain bike over to the road, such as bunny hopping, no hands, endo turns, manuals and wheelies. I got the bunny hop and no hands down pretty quick, but pulling a manual isn't easy when you keep hitting the seat. Maybe if I were more bow-legged? Good luck and enjoy your new ride.

You're going to like that bike. Nice lift. Might consider investing some of the savings into a professional fitting session.

Second this advice. If you decide to keep the bike and it does generally fit you, take it to your LBS for a fitting session where they can tune the bike to your body for a great fit.

My first thought is that I’m grateful I got my first bike before six years of age and have had at least one bike ever since. Glad you will have a great bike! Agree with the advice about a fit. Good fit and good tires are things that are essential.
