I think Grant more personable than I had pictured for him in my head, given him being some's Messiah and all. Opinionated people are the best conversationalist, assuming they don't go full on evil genius on you, and endlessly monologue. And you have to leave a small part of you heart for those who become famous, without the rich part being part of the journey... well, at least I do, being raised right, and always rooting for underdogs.

I live a 20-30 minute drive away from Rivendell and have been there a number of times. I've even spoken with The Man himself a few times (he wouldn't claim to be that, either). I once told him that the on-line forum world seems to be split into two camps, the "Grant Petersen is a genius" camp and the "Grant Petersen is an idiot" camp. He got the faintest hint of a grin on his face and said "I'm pretty sure I'm neither."

He spoke at a couple of Revelo shop events that I went to, he's entertaining if nothing else.
It also brings up a very good point imho, a rearender on a bike can easily be a life changing or ending event. While we seem to focus more on whats in front of us that we have arguably more control over being able to see it coming. The back end is where we're really vulnerable and literally not going to know what hit you.
I run 3 tailights, one with camera 24/7 and seem to have very good luck so far, knock wood.
