Concorde is finally done -Updated pics

This one has been sitting around for quite awhile waiting for me to get to it. Finally started working it about a month ago and then got distracted by other projects and it sat partially done. Saturday i finally dropped it off at the LBS for them to finish as I was there getting some other supplies. Picked it up today, brought it home and wrapped the bars to finish it off. Basically built up with a used Campagnolo 9 speed Chorus groupset I've had for awhile. And of course the Mavic Starfish crankset. 22 lbs, 8 ozs as in the pictures. Still don't know what tubing this is but suspect Aelle. Seatpost 26.8, wheels are some Velomine built Miche hubs with Open Pro rims. Roberto Billato did say they made it.

Looks pretty good to me.

Mavic Starfish

Ultech dropouts

No idea if there a real model name for this.

Nice Dove

Internal cable run

Cool paint details

Mavic headset

Components used are nice but not mint.

As usual, I like getting creative with the bar tape.

Great pics of what looks like a fantastic build! Nice little accents with the finishing tape and bar end plugs. Thanks for posting.

Beautiful! But use some rubber sleeves where the cable rubs against the head tube though.

I should mention that there's a few final steps to take on this. I have yellow crank dustcaps and bar plugs still coming that both have the Campagnolo flying shield on them. Then I have to decide about all those crazy Columbus decals applied to the exterior of the bike. One minute I want to pull them off, then next I decide to leave them. Then some frame protection steps.

Yeah, that's a little much. I'd probably target the one on the head tube first. Then, top of the down tube and top of the seat tube. The others sorta work. I like those on the fork. Looks fast.

Great pics. Looks great.

Bike looks great, and kudos for going with the white saddle and bar tape (they looks perfect on this frame).

As for the Columbus stickers, I actually like them and would leave them. To me they make the bike look racy, in the way that sponsorship decals often do.

I've been using that clear 3M protection tape. Just a few small pieces, often layered where there is the most rub, and you really can't notice them unless you are looking directly at them. So far they have been durable, but I haven't put huge miles on any of my bikes with them so far. In any case, I will just keep an eye on them and replace if they start to wear through. That tape is cheap and easy to work with.

Yep, since I rotate through so many bikes they don't get a lot of miles. The ones I get all ready marked up I don't worry much about. The newer ones I try to remember to protect them. But I ride everything I have and dont really stress too much about them getting wear, they are bikes after all.

I need this crank for my Cannondale Mavic Special. Some owner along the way had changed out the right crank but left the Mavic left arm. Bonus is they are not even the same length cranks. I've saw a couple here and there in eBay so someday I'll get it done.

Decals on the fork were on my Pinarello for a number of years. I got so many recommendations here that I finally pulled them. Looks way better. Less cluttered.

Great looking bike! I have a Chorus RD on my Pin which works really well with the Chorus Ergo's

Good point I hadn't thought about it just saw it mentioned as a dove in the past. Aquila is italian for eagle isn't it? You might have a good point there! Now I'm curious.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. And I think I actually prefer bikes in rough shape, this way I don't have to feel guilty at all about riding them hard.

It is not on the larges sprocket in the back. In any case, for some reason, maybe excellent chain line, this bike does not complain about cross chaining. I rarely do it. It is an 8V with 10V chain.

I often forget about the gearing configuration when taking pictures. It may have come off the stand after running it through all the combinations rather than coming in from the street.

It looks pretty tight in that combo, so what does it look like on the largest rear cog? Anyway, I've had the same experience: none of my setups complain about cross-chaining, even if it rarely ever happens.

For some reason I always wanted a starfish crankset. A couple months ago I found one locally. Probably one of the best $10 I ever spent.

Chain length followed Campagnolo recommendations for RD position. It is good even fully crossed.
