That is a 23" Teledyne as they measured. Center to top.
The Blue Masi has weird measures called out too, they stamped the size in the frame, it was measured center to tip top.
Fun to see, sad for the family.

Unworthy,
The braze on bits on the Rotrax are of the Benelux variety and require special nuts to secure. I sent my stash of them to Brent so there are a few left in the world of C&V but not here anymore. Smiles, MH

A shame the PO could not find a pump to use with the brazed-on pegs but had to screw on an umbrella clip right over the 531 decal (which is promised to be ruined, now)!
Also: I can see why some "extra clips" were required in order to have use of the Campy shifters but there sure seem to be some unnecessary extra-extras like the added clips on the top-tube: what's not working with the brazed-on cable stops?
There was only one braze on for a shift lever on the right side of the down tube. Nothing on the left side of the tube. It was marked TA on the bb cup and we found a TA crankset in a box but there was no spindle. I got the sense is he wanted to ride it so just rigged what he could to make it rideable without having the original bits for it.

That is designed for either a single shift lever (so no front changer) or a combo-lever with both F&R combined on the one RH side. But maybe it was for one of the Simplex clamp bands that had a boss on the clamp for a LH lever but "wrapped" the braze-on boss for the RH lever, at least that's my vote but depends on if there's any sign of original braze-on stops for a FD cable/housing.

Thank you for sharing this awesome find !!!

I do not know how much $$$$$ you spent, but I would have been VERY tempted to buy ALL of them..

It would be great to see all of these on the road again to pay homage to this great collector

Even though I do not have the room........of course I could always " find" room

My other half would have calmed me down and said " where are you going to put these bikes " ?

Probably would have only got 2-4 ..... depending on price.....maybe

Hi Unworthy1, Hello nlerner,

Thanks for the mention. It's nice to be remembered. I hope you guys are doing well.

Hi scozim,

You are a man of discernment...

That Rotrax is absolutely stunning, a complete gem and, by the looks of it, has its original paint from circa 1957/8. That hand-painted lining is wonderful: you probably wouldn't be able to get it done today. It's a Rotrax Concours.

As has been pointed out, the components are later additions. It would originally have come with a hand-derailleur, a Cyclo Benelux or a Simplex, mounted on the seat tube, often referred to as a suicide lever, maybe a Gran Sport RD but possibly a Cyclo Benelux and a cottered crank or a Stronglight 49D. The seat post and saddle clip are probably original (the nut on the clip looks bevelled, which would be right for a late-50s Brooks clip - later ones have sharper edges) and the MAFAC brakes are probably original too (they are the same as the ones on a 1958 Leo Star I have with all original equipment, with DURAL FORGE stamped on them). It certainly wouldn't have come with a Zefal pump Oh, and the headset is a Brompton Alatet but the top nut has been replaced with something else.

I have 2 Rotrax machines, a 1949 Vel d'Hiv track and a 1954 Super Course, both wonderful to ride. Highly recommended!

scozim did you buy the Rotrax? Now that you've branched out from French bikes to Italian, isn't it time for a British bike as well?

For now they will find their way onto one of the Colnago's - probably the white Super.

I did not - while my shop might qualify as a large doghouse I really don't want to sleep there. Two bikes was enough. I did hear from the family that they may have a buyer for the Rotrax so that makes me happy.

Just heard that the Raleighs (including the track bike), Masi, Bob Jackson and Rotrax have been spoken for and picked up. Good to know.

Well, against my better judgement I went back again today and picked up the Teledyne, Bianchi and Rodriguez. I really need to thin the herd but just couldn't let these sit. Not sure what the plan is yet as I need to figure out the Colnagos first.

There's a lot of cleanup needed

Indeed! Makes me wish my '78 Raleigh Pro still had a first-gen on it.

Excuse me while I spraybomb an NR.
