1973 Schwinn Sports Tourer

I don't particularly want to sell this bike but I have a neighbor who would like this bike. What would be a fair price? It's pretty much all original other than the consumables and pedals. I have the original pedals and I'd install them if I sell the bike.

I've completely overhauled the bike and replaced the bad cones on the front hub. This bike is in A 1 mechanical shape and in fine cosmetic shape as well.

I have FIVE of these great bikes 1973 and 1 1972

It's one of my favorite bikes of ALL time.

I collected these whenever one was for sale and would travel nearly 400 miles round trip to get one!!

Lemon Yellow is the best color🚲🚲🙂

400.00 if you have the dust caps

Most people might think this is high at 400.00

But back in the day , a few years ago, when this was my main riding bike , I would pay the 400.00 because you " went thru " the whole bike., and the paint looks GREAT!!!

Of course I would offer you 325 to start 😁😁😁😁😁

I am not good with valuations, however, your Sports Tourer is in perfect condition right down to the Hunt Wilde bar tape. All original, all clean and like the day it left the Schwinn dealership. I'm with bikemike73 $400. I think he might like Sports Tourers. I do too, however, I don't own one (yet).

If you don't want to sell it, don't let your neighbor pressure you into it.

They are special bikes.
$150-$300 in standard condition with replaced parts
$3-$400 for yours for originality and condition

Nice one

If it was MY bike.. I would NOT sell it unless I needed the money, or have a few of them in similar condition.

SO SMOOTH AND STABLE !!!!!!!!!!

Like above said " Don't let your neighbor pressure you in to selling.

IF you neighbor REALLY wants it.....and who wouldn't........$ 600.00 takes it away

I MIGHT settle for 500.00!!!!!

BUT...where are you going to find another one like this **********

I do not think you or anybody will....

Looking at the estimates, this must have some allure to vintage Schwinn collectors. Not knowing what that is, feels like a $175 +/- $25 bike to the uninformed.

Sometimes the Sports Tourer shows up at the "uninformed" price, but you have to act fast. Once the Schwinn collector gets it, the price goes way up!

Thanks for posting that, great read, almost made me sad that I resto-moded that frame. Kept the decals correct though.

Thanks bikemig for the SB link. Good read. Hadn’t really given much thought to the different grades of fillet-brazed models in the vintage Schwinn lineup. Not sure I’m ready to drop four hundo on one but I now have a new search criteria!

I think these get over looked and mistook for lesser Schwinn's because stock they had full safety? dorkage reflector pedals, chain guard outer ring, big metal dork disk. front and rear reflectors, wheel reflectors, safety lever brakes, power stick safety stem shift levers and integrated kick stand. None of which are bad but are usually associated with much lower bikes, if I were to get one of these I would want all the original dork safety stuff it just seams right and these just don't look right to me without it.

100% agree. These bikes are cool in a dorky sort of way.

Sold one very complete, outstanding condition, on fleece bay for $525. They have a following.

In later years, Schwinn reused that model name on a version that is just an average bike.

Need crank dust caps to complete the pristine, original look.

Local sale to a neighbor? No packing, no fees, $400 would be fair.
