Here's an odd duck I am stumped by - it's a LeMans with later graphics but an earlier headbadge, and never seen this colour before. SN is at bottom of NDS seat tube and doesnt seem to conform to anything I've read.

That’s a Danish serial number. I know since I have the same configuration on my centurion bike (see earlier posts in this thread). The last letter Z indicates it was produced either in 1963, 1984 or 2004 (1984 being the most likely in your case I’d guess). Google Danish Bicycle VIN-system to see a full information on how to decider the serial numbers.

awesome. that makes total sense given the very "continental" wheel lock installed on this.

Yep. The two most popular models in Sweden and Denmark were the Super Le Mans and the Le Mans.

The Super Le Mans had the Tange infinity frame and wheels with Araya rims and Suzue hubs. The gears were Suntour Cyclone 7000 with Accushift and a Sakae FX SLP crankset. Brakes from Dia Compte.

The sister model Le Mans had a simpler Hi-Ten singel butted frame, the shifters on the stem and in Sweden they were equipped with a rear carrier and mud guards. The colours were most often black or mouse gray.

I briefly had a Super Le Mans from *around* that same era, and it had a label claiming "Guaranteed built with Double Butted Hi-Tensile"

So .. my new old Ironman has a serial number of N6P6754 ... So, going by Post #62 in this thread, it was the 6,784th from made in the 16th ('P) fortnight, in 1986. So, late July, early August 1986. Just in time for the 1987 model year, I guess. Interesting.

If it's a plain Ironman, it would be a 1986 model. A 1987 model would be either a Ironman Expert or Ironman Master.

Sorry, I should have specified that it's an Ironman Expert; photos in the "Love of 80s paint-jobs" thread.

It's interesting, but no one has figured out who built the Facet and this is definitely the same construction, but in a different geometry.
Only a couple of owners have submitted the serial numbers for their Facet. Based on this very limited sample size, the manufacturer would appear to be Yamakuni of Japan. For confirmation, please post your serial number. TIA.

Bikes: Wow, where to start? A collection of 1980's and early 90's road, touring, and MTBs from the likes of Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Fuji, Miyata, Univega, Panasonic, and GT. It has gotten rather out of control.

There is currently a Diamond Back Arrival frame on Ebay. There are some good pictures that show the same exact design decals for the tubing and the Made in Japan sticker as well. https://www.ebay.com/i/313144316420

I think you may have identified the manufacturer T-Mar. Check out this photo of a Yamakuni frame. It is identical to the Facet in construction. https://mybike-prod-uploads.s3.amazo...83dfe7e716.jpg

Hello all!

I'm looking for help identifying my bike!
I looked at a catalog posted online, and I think it is either a Centurion Le Mans or Centurion Super Elite from the 79'

The serial is: N0D 7349
Also, I'm trying to restore it a bit and give it some love, I want to change the vinyl stickers since these are damaged, Anyone knows where I could get some? I haven't had any luck online.

Also, I would appreciate recommendations to take care of this baby!

Thanks!

(I can't share pictures on a reply yet, so here is a link to the album with pictures, will reply with pictures once I'm allowed)

The serial number indicates a 1980 model. It has Tange #5 , plain gauge tubes, so it shouldn't be a Super Elite. It should be either an Elite or Super LeMans but it's hard to tell from non-drive side photos.

Yes,I had very high confidence in the manufacturer. Unfortunately, all the Facet S/N samples I've managed to collect so far, all start with 'YF6'. I'm trying to determine if the 'F' is a month code, fortnight code, year code or something else. With both an 'F' and '6", I'm not sure which is the year code. Unfortunately I can't access the photo link you kindly submitted but based on my personal research it looks like they manufactured aluminum frames for several other recognizable brand in the late 1980s. Now I know they also had an eponymous brand, Thank-you.

Centurion Custom DLX

Just wanted to find out where the Custom DLX falls in the centurion line, the headbadge is not one that I have seen before and I haven't been able to find much information online

Seat tube

It has bar end shifters like the Super Lemans.
Thanks for any information you can provide - Gerry

I don't believe believe I seen a Custom DLX before but I've seen that head badge before on some entry level models, circa 1981-1982. The serial number will confirm if it's from the same time period. Centurion's entry level model around this time was typically the Sport DLX. I'm not sure if this was a one year replacement for the Sport DLX or if it's one step up. A good drive side picture or close-ups of the major components and tubing decal might help. Regardless, it would appear to be at or near the bottom of the line.

this is the only other photo he sent, I figured that would be around the Sport DLX level, he's here in town I'll see if I go check it out and get some photos - Gerry

Yes, hi-tensile tubing is what I was expecting. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell much from the dark, non-drive side photo that the current owner supplied. However, the wheels are mismatched, with the front being newer and having an aero rim. So, check it over well for signs of a front end crash. The brake calipers also appear mismatched, with the rear being newer. I can't positively identify the derailleurs, other than they appear to be SunTour, to match the bar end shift levers.

it appears that you are once again correct the serial number, I believe brings it in at 1982. The derailleurs are both dated 1977(TC &TD) the rear brake caliper is shimano exage, probably later 80s the brake levers are schwinn (weinmann) front brake is dia-compe. This thing has parts from all over, I left it in his care, thanks for all your help - Gerry

Thank-you very much for taking the time and effort to obtain the serial number, date codes and extra photos, even though it wasn't an attractive deal and a real Frankenbike.. The S/N is consistent with February 1982 manufacture by Fairly of Taiwan. They were a known contractor for WSI but this may be the earliest case I've seen. I was having trouble deciding if the rear dropouts were stamped or forged but now that we have a better photo, they appear to be 3D stamped dropouts. I wish you better luck with your next potential transaction.
