Cassette spacer! SRAM PG950 9 speed
Hi all, trying to figure this out. I have a wheelset that came from a 2009 Specialized Allez with 8 speed Sora. I am repurposing that wheelset for a 9 speed Cannondale flat bar road/fitness bike. I have a new SRAm PG950 11-34, and I’m just trying to figure out what spacer is needed. I’m assuming I have an 8/9 hub. TIA!

If I was you, I'd get a 1.85mm and a 1mm spacer, just to have them on hand. Last time I put an 8 speed Shimano cassette on a Zonda wheel (that was running a 10 speed cassette), it needed the 1.85mm spacer w/the little indents to cover the rivets on the back of the cassette.
I've run into cases of needing them, or not needing them, depending on Mavic, Campy, Shimano, SRAM... 8, 9, 10, 11 speed... try your local bike shop, they may just give you a couple of each for a fiver (or even free).

You will need to use whichever spacer or combination causes the cassette to stand 1 or 2 mm proud of the freehub, so that the lock ring clamps against the cassette and not the end of the freehub. If the rivets (or screws) at the back of the cassette cause issues you can just grind them off or remove them, they are not needed after installation and only serve to hold the assembly together during handling.
