645,000 spectators along course for UCI Road World Championships

"....The 2015 UCI Road World Championships far exceeded crowd predictions, with about 645,000 spectators coming to the event during its 10-day run, according to a preliminary estimate released Sunday by race organizers...."

If this is the case over the whole 10 days I would consider it to be a disappointment. I have attended the Montreal and Quebec city Worldtour races multiple times and wouldn't be surprised if each of these races had as many as 500,000 people for a single race when held during good weather conditions. I was at the Quebec race this year and there was no possible way we could have got within a kilometre of the finishing line for the race finish

For my next career I'm going to be an estimator who determines how many people attend such events. I'm pretty sure that the more I'm paid the higher the estimated attendance will be.

It was 200,000 more than expected. The closest valid comparison is Hamilton Ontario in 2003 and that had 203,000 total.

Universal Sports Network had coverage of the races all week. Channel 402 if you're a Dish customer.
