They are all "vintage."
The only "new" bike I've ever "commuted" on was back when I was in Jr High in 1990-91, and that was a Haro. Before and since they have all been pretty ancient.
I think the youngest bike I've ever owned was a 1996 Stumpjumper M2 S Works (EP'd when I worked at Albuquerque Bicycle Center). My current commuter/touring ride is a 1983 Univega Alpina Uno, which recently took over from my 1956 Rudge. Prior to that I'd been using a 1994 rigid steel Stumpjumper during bad weather, and a 1981 Miyata 610 on the nice days.

I have a '96 Trek MT Track 850 SHX that I am setting up as a commuter. I purchased some CST Sensamo Control winter rated all seasons for my Denver commutes.

I am also doing my best to recover from a bad groin injury, so hopefully I will be able to ride soon.

Old bikes are relatively inexpensive and make, IMO, great commuters. I use two regularly: a late 80s Specialized Stumpjumper and a mid 70s Sekine SHS 271:
