40 miles with Steve this morning. We fought hard - wind fought harder. I'm needing a nap.

Warmer today (30°), sunny, windless, 21 miles (33.8k) but the Tarmac refused to go into the upper chain ring (maintenance later today) so rode in the 39T chain ring in higher gears (7-8). Oh, the joys of bicycle ownership. I'm just not as in cold temps as I am in the summer.

After a 50 min. weightlifting workout:

Stationary bike: 15 min., 5 miles.

One of these Saturdays/Sundays, when I have some daylight, I'll un-wimp myself and tour around town on my one-speed and put in some winter outdoor miles.

Rained heavily last night and early this morning, the streets were soaked. 20.4 miles (32.8k) and a half hour cleaning the grit off the bike, shoes, and pants. Never say die.

Another 40 miles today. Temps were in the 60s this morning but the fog and high humidity made the air nice and wet. The wind took advantage of that and made it not so comfortable to be in. Overall, I had a good workout, especially on the last 15 miles of the ride.

44 miles Wednesday night, including 20 with a group that pushed me past my comfort zone, which I needed. I've been accustomed to a comfortable 12 mph average over distance and the past couple of group rides have pushed closer to 16 mph, with some segments up to a mile at 20 mph. Didn't think I'd be able to do that again, and usually lagged at the back.

20.4 miles (32.8k) on an overcast day. The streets were still damp. There's a weather advisory tomorrow, but I might get a ride in the morning. Moderate winds (10+mph, above my comfort zone) for the next two days.

After a 13 day break (work and weather) got out for a 7 mile ride in the mid-30's this afternoon before the rains rolled in. Felt good and glad I've had a few sessions on the recumbent bike machine at the YMCA in the last week.

I took the blue jewel from Verona out for 49.0 miles today. A nice ride. Sometimes though you have to dismount and walk for a bit...

It was especially nice because commute opportunities have been scarce for the last few weeks.

Well done! Great photo too. Do they put salt on the roads where you live?

Thank you. Salt? What's that question about what a bear does in the woods? This is New England, after all. They put salt on the Minuteman Bikeway too, which is that picture.

I spent some time cleaning the bike this evening. The blue had become white in places.

Giant wind Friday. A big gust practically swept the bike outta my hands when I stepped outside.
Snowed overnight - harbinger of a White Christmas, but the sun came out and I dressed for a ride.
But I cheated, loaded the bike in the car and drove over to the bike path. Of course the sun disappeared and I was pelted with snow crystals. Only 6.4 miles (10.3k) in a headwind with snow.

A second attempt for my annual 200 miler today. Left house at 12:15AM but had 3 returns to house in the first 2.25 hours. Things were not going well and to add to the frustration, my rear wheel chopped up a bunny rabbit. Was going to abandon the attempt but decided to bundle up a bit more since the temps dropped and headed out again at 2:45AM. Got back to the house by 6:10AM with 88 miles in, cleaned the remains off the bike, changed wheels and chain, refreshed supplies, showered, fresh kit and out again to join in with the group at the LBS. Only held on for 12 miles since they were upping things to a rolling 24mph and I had lots to go. Made it back to the shop with 132 miles in then sucked some wheels to a local gas station 11 miles away. We headed out and things were going OK until I nailed a road reflector.

With 110psi in the tires and my newly replaced right shoulder only 11 weeks ago still having muscle issues I almost fell off the bike because the pain was so intense. At that point I had enough and the 3 great guys with me decided to escort me back to my house for a total of 151. I shouldn't be too upset since the shoulder is going to take many more months to return to some form a normalcy after a couple of decades with arthritis and nerve damage from 2011 bike crash resulting in a slightly broken clavicle and neck.

Christmas day ride with my adult son. Me on my wonderful Bike Friday chasing him on his Jamis Coda. We rode a loop ride, 20.4 miles, on the Greenway and back via the Bay Trail. Cold (low 50's, which for Cali people is basically freezing) but clear and gorgeous. Views of the City (S.F.) and both bridges were spectacular! Added advantage: we avoided hours sitting around talking with the relatives =). After last night, the silence today while riding was just perfect.

Kudos to you for an amazing amount of miles. I feel really good about myself when I complete over 20 miles. And I can relate to the shoulder pain. Unattended injury from Vietnam has caught up with me in old age. VA doc and I tried several different meds, found one that worked well, then the DEA/CDC decided to play doctor and cut them out (An opiate, Vicodin). I fought with the VA for months and finally got a bottle, works wonders at reducing the pain. Being the hard-core cyclist I am, I'm not gonna let a little thing like extreme pain keep me from riding

Ma Nature gave me a nice Xmas present. 20.9 miles (33.6k) on a cold (20°) but sunny day with no wind. Beautiful ride.

Good to see folks getting out today!

We took ye ol' vintage tandem out for 39.6 miles today, one of our reg'lar picnic runs. Temp in the mid-40's, stiff wind which inaccuweather says was 21 gusting to 31. 'Nuff o' that. Get on with the pics lest it didn't happen.

My sweetie and the bike

Of course we had a picnic

25 miles Christmas day. Warm around 70F, but 20-30 mph steady wind and gusts up to 40 mph made it tough going along this hilly, rural route along open prairie. I wondered about taking the handlebar bag with my camera but decided to give it a go. Fortunately even the sideways gusts from the south weren't knocking me around too badly. It was mostly a challenge when pedaling into the wind.

Felt like I was loafing but app shows I was riding the same 12 mph average as usual.

Incredibly it's been a couple of gorgeous days for riding. Sun shining and warm Christmas Eve and even a little warmer today, overcast but clearing up towards the end. No wind to speak of. No traffic. I only rode 30 miles each day, mainly because I slack off this time of year but it was nice to get out and just ride.
