The service that's being discussed is a database and includes the time, place, and ID of the person submitting a video. It's all voluntarily submitted by cyclists for the benefit of other cyclists. It's probably safe to assume that any relevant submission is likely to be relatively nearby - most people roam relatively close to home. It's also probably safe to assume that the person that submitted the video would be willing, and likely eager, to testify against the person that aggrieved them and harmed someone with whom they have some affinity (another cyclist) - I know that I'd answer the call.

Funny!
Most of you folks are planning what you can do to while away the hours when the snow falls. This Summer was so hot here in southern Arizona that if you weren't out the door riding by 6AM you'd be cooked by 10! Although we manage to get our miles in, Summer is not our prime riding season.
As winter approaches, now is the time to ride here, anytime during these beautiful days!

Soon enough there will be enough nanny bots in the car controls that big brother won't need to bother. The last time we were shopping for cars 3-4 years ago I was peeved that the radar systems (automatic stop and cruise control) weren't quite yet down to our price bracket. I wanted them. I'm realistic about how good our driving is. I'm sure by the next time, they will be. Wife's van has beepers for fast approach and lane departure, but her backup cam doesn't have any brains. Stability controls that use the ABS are now pretty endemic.
The trick you should know with a camera is to stop it and start it again when something interesting happens. Then you have a pretty good time stamp instead of looking through a two hour video file.

Does a new kind of bike count as a “doodad”?
Best winter cycling related purchase I have ever made was a Fat Bike.

How about a dually diesel truck with an eight foot bed, with trailer hitch and mount in the bed for the bike, for times when you can't ride the bike to your starting point? Could also serve to haul mulch, dirt, etc. Should only set ya back about what a house used to cost.

Now see, that's what happens when you do too much shopping on line. They only show you the stuff that you already know about and are actively looking for.
You need those retro paper catalogues with pictures of all the neat and necessary stuff that you didn't know existed.

Two suggestions that did come in on the on-topic posts were new wheels and a power meter.
I'm really happy with the Metro Vision wheels on my Trek road bike, but on my Jamis gravel/light touring bike I did consider buying another wheelset so instead of changing tires when I was going to use it on a multi-day road tour I'd just be swapping wheels. Right now, covid means I'm not planning any multi-day rides but that could change. So, I will be having fun research wheels for that bike.
I really enjoy training with power on my Wahoo Kickr SNAP/Zwift set up, and every year have thought about putting a power meter on the road bike. But, my outdoor riding isn't training riding - it is fun riding where I do look at heart rate and try to push harder if it seems like I'm loafing but many rides are pure recreational rides and the Strava power estimates/TSS score after the ride is good enough.
A related doodad/thingamabob temptation: replacing the Kickr SNAP with a wheel off trainer to improve those indoor training rides over the winter. If the damn SNAP would die, I would do that - but it also means having to replace the 20 year old Trek 520 w/ 7 speed cassette I have on it now. So, I'm just too cheap to pull the trigger - and the SNAP has been just too reliable...

Consider donating to a reputable bike organization instead. I've started doing that this year since there are bike things which I want, but don't need.

You could take up touring or bike-packing. Years of purchases as you figure out your preferences.

Wheel upgrades should always be TUBULAR.
or
Build your own wheels over the Winter - you've got the time.

I would highly recommend one of these for your handlebars. She will sway her hips as you ride. Think of it as a tropical carrot.
