Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

4 of us did 40 miles. Nice day, got into the mid 80s by the end. Friend had a coupon for a free pizza at a cafe near his house, which is where we start the ride. So I gorged on pizza and home made potato chips and now I'm way too full.

Don’t feel bad. The local concierge care set get “just in case” prescriptions to take on trips to Europe.

Must have slept wrong or something. This morning had slight mobility issues with my neck, but through the day the pain started to build. Now I only find comfort if I hold my neck in a specific position. I highly dislike when this happens, must be the cold. I’m getting old.

So on my ride to vacation in NC a couple of weeks ago I developed a pain on the inside of my left knee. Basically took the last two weeks off of the bike to rest it and it had finally started feeling better.

This morning I was walking out of my house to ride to work and my right foot slipped off the steps of my porch. Twisted my left knee on recovery and now it’s giving me some pain again

Looks like any day off ride tomorrow is going to have to be an easy one.

Today I found a pair of Park Tools needle nose pliers I lost many years ago. I waited and waited for them to turn up and, when they didn't, bought another pair a year or so ago. I had become convinced that they had grown legs and walked away. I had good reason, at the time, for this belief, but that has now passed. I can't even say where it was I found them; they just turned up in the secret place I always put them, to prevent them growing legs. I can assure you they weren't there a year ago. Or last week. It's all very odd.

Get better fast enough and you won't lose fitness. Seriously, hoping for a quick recovery.

Had to make a hygiene stop on a busy road so I took my bike into the corn field with me.

The average age of our Retired Old Guy’s Ride today was 72.5 years. Give us 45 miles at 15.5 mph.

Man, that sucks. Hope it’s mild and you’re back at it soon and safely.

I used to joke that I was so hardass I’d quit working out for a month just for the challenge of coming back. I don’t joke like that anymore.

The first commutes of bike commute season are complete. Think I'll roll the Lemond tomorrow. The single speed is fun, but geared a little too low, until it's geared a little too high for a minute.
