Box O' Crap, Sixth edition

I am the Crap Master. I'd prefer to be a Time Lord and be called The Doctor, but there you have it.

After 3 1/2 years of most excellent service as Head Cat Chaser, Drillium Dude has hung up his special Box of Crap keyboard and returned to civilian mode. For some reason, and despite seeing how much effort it takes to keep the ball matriculating downfield, I think I'm ready for this challenge. DD, thank you for your service! And also for being a great caretaker of the BOC game!

Crapmaster Emeriti: @noglider BOCPAG, the box o' crap pass around game. Started 12-1-2010 @nlerner - box o crap pass-around game, started 12-1-2010 @sailorbenjamin - Instant Box of Crap Pass-a-Round-Robin started 8-31-11 @TimmyT - Instant Box of Crap Pass-a-Round-Robin take two: Movement & Passing, started 12-17-2011 @Drillium Dude - Box O' Crap game take 4 (that's right - 4) started 3-30-2012

Special Metal of Honor: @long john for creating something better than an everlasting gobstopper: a metal liner for the BOC to last for months.

Note: if you no longer want to be on the mailing list, please let me know and I will remove you. This is important so as not to hold up the box while someone is trying to PM you for your mailing address If you want to be added, post to the thread and state that you've read the rules and will abide by them, and I will update the list here in this first post. See Rules below for the one eligibility requirement.

@crandress (Crapmaster-elect) Received: see the new thread!

Rules (this is important):

1. If you can't abide by the rules, please don't play
2. Ship within 5 working days of receipt of box (if you're on the list, you should have some crap ready to be put into the box - right?) This is a $18.75 flat rate box. If you receive a box that's falling apart, please pick up a new one from the post office-they're free! Also note that this B.O.C. game is only available to those within the USPS flat rate region. Sorry in advance for those C&V forum members that can't play!
3. Remove only crap you intend to use yourself
4. Do not remove crap to sell to somebody else
5. Do not remove crap to pass to somebody else
6. Try to put in as much or more crap than you remove
7. Report receipt via this thread upon receipt (same day shouldn't be too difficult - we're all addicted to this forum and most post daily. Don't suddenly disappear once the box makes it to you). Report via this thread when you've sent the box on to the next member as well.
8. Photograph the box contents as received (not a completely-revealing photo - just the box open and the crap on the top of the pile) and post (this thread is worthless without pics and all that...)
9. Photograph what you took out, but not what you put in - it's supposed to be somewhat of a surprise.
10. Players must have 150 posts or more. This, of course, is to facilitate PMing to pass/receive mailing addresses. Additionally, if you're serious enough to post this many times, you're part of the community and much less likely to be jumping onboard just to get some free crap .
11. Please, no completely worthless, borked crap (unless, of course, it's a cat-toy or has a string tied around it signifying its use as a small boat anchor).
12. Ultraspontane has unwittingly prompted us to add the following guidance: The BOX OF CRAP is a CRAPSHOOT and you may not like the CRAP in the BOX. There may be absolutely nothing in the box of any value to you. Even if this is the case, you will still be expected to spend $18.75 to mail the BOX OF CRAP on to the next person. If you aren't ok with that, don't play the game; it's that simple, really.
13. If you take more than 10 days to ship the box, you're banned for life. Right now I've got Ultraspontane, Road2you, mtnbke and bike_galpal on this list. I hope not to add anyone else.
14. PM the next person in line (don't ask me!) for a ship to address. Don't post it here, respect everyone's privacy.
15. If you're on deck, in the hole, or otherwise getting close to your turn, and you know you're going on vacation, have to drive the kids to college, or have temporary crap going on, you can post here or PM the CrapMaster (me), and I'll move you down the list a bit on the sly based on what you feel you're more comfortable meeting your BOC responsibilities. I won't make you get to the end of the line. The list is not writ in stone, I can copy and paste with the best of 'em.
16. When requesting a new place in line, please let the Crapmaster know the number of times you have played.

Okay! Shall we try again? There's some really good crap ready for launch.

One word: KARMA. Make sure you do the right thing so the Karma you get is the kind you want.

Gugie

Hooray! @gugie: thank you for taking this over. Good luck - and I'm here if you need help

I'm in. It'll be nice to be on the outside looking in for a change!

Hmm, well, you make it sound like so much fun, I will play again. I've read the rules and will abide by them. Please add me to the list.

May I ask a couple rule clarifications?
1. The stuff I take... must I use it immediately? How long may I hoard it before using it?
2. What about stuff that is clearly beyond repair or use? Should I (all of us, each of us, whatever) remove and discard things that clearly got busted in transit? I think we should... but I don't make the rules.

Remember when the BOC was a Christmas thing? Just a little holiday reminisce.

I like it, I like it alot! Henceforth, you may call me by my given name, or, if in relation to the BOC, more appropriately, Dr. Crapmaster.

Yer in. As Dr. Crapmaster, I shall rule:

1. Take what you want, use it when you want. If you want to hoard it , do so. You can always sign up for the next round of BOC and put it back next go around.
2. From my remembrance of the BOC coming through my home, I would definitely bucket some of the crap in that box as not honoring Rule 11. It didn't get broken in transit, I believe, it was junk when it went in the box. Although not a rule, extra good karma will befall anyone who removes borked, fritzed, disconflodulated, or otherwise plain old trash and replaces it with plain ol' crap, possibly useful to some crapster down the road.

Dr. Crapmaster has spoken!

You're confusing it with the secret Santa thing, which was similar but the rules were different.
