Miyata 210 frame same as 610? And what to expect.

I have those shifters on my '85 610, paired with a Deore XT rear derailleur and a newer Shimano freewheel. I think it shifts great. They are L-412 shifters, or Light Action shifters, and they really do have a light action.
The seat post lug ears on you 610 look different than the 610 or 1000, which look similar to each other. On the 610 / 1000 they look like a round piece brazed to the lug with recesses for the seat post bolt & nut. On the 210 they appear to be stamped pieces. Also the seat stay end treatment at the seat post lug is different. On the 610 & 1000 they are concave.
If the paint is loose near around what looks like a crack, it might be from rust underneath, which could have been caused by the paint cracking and letting moisture in, or moisture getting in some other way causing the rust and subsequent paint cracking. Or maybe it's just a crack in the ear. I think I'd want to probe it to find out what's going on. Maybe find some touch up paint before doing anything.
That's a really nice looking 210!

Yanno, I of course understand the pecking order of bicycle models and which features get left out the lower you go and why- but the more I think about it the more insane it is to me that there aren’t two bottle cages bosses on this bike. Seems like a step too far on what is otherwise designated as a “grand touring” bike.
The lack of second bottle is too stark of a contrast up against nice tubing (frame at least), cantis and a 40 spoke rear wheel.

What's happened with the seat post clamp "crack"?

I've got a real clean set of 700c 36h wheels that I want to use, but not sure if the DC 960s are as effective for this as some of the 98x models. If not I may spring for a new set of brakes. Sticking with the 27s is still on the table though.

Some 1 1/4” Paselas would do nicely on that in 27”.

And I've got a few pairs of those so that'd work, but I have some 700c Ukai's with Sansin sealed hubs (basically what came on this 210 in 27") that came off of an '88 615 and are like new, lubed up and trued. Going with those first since I've got the DC 981s on the way.

Nearly done with the rebuild and I’m pretty surprised at how easily this thing could fit 35s with fenders. These are 32s but the amount of room left is remarkable, both front and back. My 86 Voyageur can do 35 but the fender fit has to be perfect. I’m thinking this could even go to 38s.
700c wheels btw, not 27”.

I can't post links yet, otherwise I would post the 1986 catalogue. If you google, you will find it out there. Beautiful bike, nice job on the restore. There's a 210 near me for sale and I want one badly, but it is the wrong colour which for a rider is a major problem imo.

Better photos coming but this is done minus some tweaks here and there. Still working on a front rack solution. Brake levers, cantis, pedals and of course saddle are not original, the rest is (including the cable housing, which is a little long still).

Dang, That is a stunner! And I agree about your previous comment of how just one bottle mount feels like a crime. Maybe it’s because we’re desert rats? And I think we’ve talked about it before, but when it’s time for new hoods, you HAVE to try the SOMA Campy hoods. They fit those levers perfectly.

Yes! Even better outdoors. That bar tape and cable housing play well with the decals. Looks fantastic! All that’s left is centering those tire logos with the valve stems
