Posted these in another thread about the bike but figured I’d give the final pics their own post. Purchased for my girlfriend to do some overnights etc. with. Typical tear down and overhaul. Saddle, pedals, brake levers and, wheels (27>700), cantis were upgraded, rest is original.

Front rack solution still in the works. Have a VO constructeur rack but it either sits too high, too far out, or not level.

RD works fine but not very springy, perhaps that’s by design with this model and I’m just naive to it.

Thank you! I've got some small changes to dial in yet. The fenders were some older ones I had on hand and the stays are a little short. I've got new ones on the way which will give an even better fender line and give some more clearance in both front and rear. Fits 32s with room right now but looks like it'll fit 35s comfortably with longer stays. Putting straps on the pedals and still hunting down the best front rack solution. VO constructer rack was sitting either too high, too pointed upward or too forward for my taste, but she can use it if she needs it. Nitto m12 canti may work but had a similar issue on my Voyageur where I sat pretty high above the fender. I'm looking at campee/campeur ands similar solutions that incorporate front panniers. Have a set of front and rear cannondale panniers for it.

I'm buying an '86 (I think) tomorrow. What size tires did you put on yours? I like a little wider tire for getting off pavement.

It will likely fit up to 35mm with fenders. Pictured here is with 32s.

Here are some pics from the first real day of riding. We did 46 miles around the greater Phoenix area starting downtown. This week we’re going bike camping in Tonto National Forest.

Bike rides wonderfully and is surprisingly light. Her other bike is an 89 Trek 1100 and she commented on how much more comfortable the Miyata was for a longer ride.

Thanks for the info on tires, and thanks for your pix and ride update - nice ride. I envy your winter weather out there. Missouri winters rhyme with Misery Winters. I bought the 210 bike yesterday, but cannot post pix until after 10 posts. It's a flawless '86, and the blue paint is like new. Great find at $100, I think. It has 27 x 1 1/4 tires. Will 700 X 35mm fit on the wheels, or do I need to replace? I like a little more rubber on the road.

Looking forward to seeing it. You could go beyond 35mm most likely if you’re not not running fenders. As for the wheels though if you want 700c tires you’ll need 700c wheels. Or, you could use the 27” equivalent of 35mm (or whichever width you’re going for), which would be 27x1 3/5.

A website conversion from 1-3/8" equals 34.9mm. Could be close enough for who it's for w/o buying new wheels. I'm shopping now, but most so far are 27X 1-1/4

Velo Orange is a common go-to for fenders and what I've always used: https://velo-orange.com/collections/fenders

Honjo, SKS and Portland Design works are other options.

The diameter is the main issue. 27"c≠700c. 700c tires are going to require 700c rims.

Did you have to do anything to the end of the rear fender to fit it between chainstays?

Nope! Fits nice. Only one set of eyelets in the back though, so the rack and fenders share an eyelet with longer hardware.

Wow, that frame looks like it was a true barn find. Looks mint in every way. I suppose in Arizona you get a better shot at those than here in the northeast where the elements can destroy or at least seriously compromise steel frames. Perfect example here of a bike from yesteryear that is happily at home on the road today. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

Thanks! And its true, the majority of local bikes that pass through my hands are always decent to great in the paint department. The bike was filthy when I came into it but I could tell that it was indeed a garage queen underneath it all.

I refurbished a Miyata 310 for a friend that had spent a few Indiana winters outside. It was covered in bird poop and tree sap when I started, but soap and water cleaned it right up. The Miyata paint held up remarkably well.

This is my garage find, and it's not even been washed yet. Some bubbles and a wash mitt is about all it needs.
