Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any Breezer Venturi owners...

Around 5'6" tall? If so, I'm curious what size frame you're riding. I ride a 52cm normally but with the aggressive geometry of the Venturi I'm not sure. I thinking either a 45cm or 48cm. Thanks for your reply in advance.

At 30% off and an extra 6% from active junky it sells for a little over $1100.

Sorry, can't really help you with the sizing. At least Nashbar has a quite good return policy, don't they? So if it doesn't fit you can send it back. If you have to pay for shipping though, that might hurt a bit.

If that is what you want, go for it. But I would plan up front to change the drivetrain to 11-speed and sell the 6700. Factor that into your cost. If you buy 5800 or 6800 from the UK, you shouldn't be out more than $0-300 extra.

Keep in mind that the real stack and reach of the finished bike are significantly modified by the large angle (tall) riser stem. So the built up bike will fit and ride like a more conventional geometry in any given size. You should take that into account when picking a size.

I'm sure 10-speed Ultegra works just fine, no?

Only issue I have heard with 6700 is shift-cable routing and cable breaking and general dissatisfaction with the shifting caused by bad cable-routing.

Read through the threads on this forum about the Breezer Venturi.

If you have a long torso and short legs, it might fit you well. Otherwise, I would stay away from this model.

Could be the folks with leftover Breezers have decided to market that as rare items, boutique frames which can never be reproduced, worth extra because they are steel and not overweight low-cost loss-leader frames.

A bit of marketing ... "If we are stuck with these things, we stand to make more if we try to create a 'Breezer Mystique' than if we try to sell them as leftovers."

Given that not a single Venturi owner has chimed in, let alone a 5'6" one to answer the OP's question, yet we have 17 posts of unsolicited, mostly off-topic responses and wild speculations, it reminds me there are a great many windbags.

There is no need to guess at frame sizes when the math to figure it out is very simple. What are the measurements of the '52cm' frame you currently ride? Does it fit how you'd like it to? Have you attempted to calculate how many spacers and what length/orientation/angle stem you'll need to achieve the same or ideal fit? If you haven't, please try. If you have, what were the results?

Most people don't like the Venturi because in order to make it fit they'd need a very short, up-turned stem, and a stack of spacers. If that doesn't offend you, chances are you'll have no issues on the frame, but you still need to do some math before ordering.

But here's the thing. All the insubstantial posts recorded so far aren't the point. I mean, there is plenty of space here on the BF. No one is saying there is no room for a to-the-point post because of all the irrelevant stuff already offered. So none of that matters. The real question is, where are all the relevant posts? Why isn't anyone offering a real answer to the OP's question (except for the last post before this one)? Knowing, as you do, that I am no fan of the Venturi, you shouldn't be surprised that I think there are no relevant answers because there is no elegant way to solve the problem of the Venturi's poor fit for most people. Yes, as already pointed out, a short, tall, riser stem with a bunch of spacers will do the trick, but that simply isn't elegant or desirable for most folks. Hence, no clamor to offer that approach by the vast majority of BFers.

I want to make sure you understand I appreciate your fondness for the Venturi, and I wish you much joy from owning and riding it. Also I recognize there are others like you. Just not all that many.

Corny windbaggery.

The reason there has been no specific reply is because there are few 5'6" American males, and fewer yet who ride the rare Venturi.

It's a pathetic idea that "most people" buy their bikes based on setup looks. Sad! I also think it's false!

LOL, pathetic yeah, but I bet it's a lot closer to being true than it is false.
