Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bought a set, score. They accept prescription lenses too, may have to look at that in the future (my eyes aren't THAT bad).

DAMMIT!!!
I just spent $240 on custom built Split jackets(so no extra lens they claim)!!!

I know I could have had the Jawbones, or Race Jacket, but they didn't fit my face properly, & I wanted to wear them off the bike too without looking too Fredly.

I'll have to grab a 2nd pair @ that price.

Yeah I didn't need them atm but I figured at some point in the future I'll need new glasses and I'll probably never see this price again.

Ordered - always wanted jawbones, but at this price, I'll see if they fit me, and if not, to craigslist they go.

Are you sure they come with a second set of lenses? I didn't really see it in the description...

Mine showed up yesterday. Yep - does come with 2 sets of lenses, case, cleaning cloth, and some kind of weird white stubby lipstick looking thingy that I have to look up what it is for.

Just an fyi since we are on the topic. Any members here who are military, police, or firefighters (volunteer or paid) can sign up directly with Oakley and get 50% off retail prices on Oakley glasses and gear. I picked up a few pairs of the new half jackets for some friends @ $85 per pair.

The website is https://secure.usstandardissue.com/ and this is owned and operated by Oakley directly.

I bought a pair of these back when they were asking $99/pair. My first pair of Split Jackets. I wear them more for everyday stuff than for riding, and like them very much. When it comes to riding, I like my Radar Paths more better, for a variety of reasons. But these Split Jackets are still a screaming buy.

When I ride I prefer rimless designs too, but this was too good of a deal to pass on it.

It is this stuff. I've not tried it yet.

Regarding the rimmed vs. rimless design, in comparison with the Radar Paths, I find the Split Jackets seem to make more contact with my face around the bridge of my nose/eyebrows for some reason. This makes the lenses get dirtier faster on the Split Jackets, at least for me. But I still like them and use them occasionally when riding.

Thanks for the PSA.

I ordered them and they arrived a few days ago. They seem like good glasses (especially for the price). I had hoped to use prescription lenses on them in the future, but turns out I'm outside the range (-4 in one eye, -5 in the other, I think they max out at +2 to -3). No biggie, since for my longer rides I wear contacts and eye glasses (for shorter rides, etc to the cafe or to work I just wear my regular glasses).

I actually haven't been able to take them on a long ride but will probably do so this Sunday.

Well, the good news is they are well made. The bad news is they don't fit my face, so they're pretty much useless (and I already threw out the box). Doh!

Post a pic of what you've got, I might take them if you'll mail them to Canada. That website won't ship to Canada.

Keep an eye on the website - they also send out a newsletter if you want email notifications of deals. I've seen a couple other nice deals on their site.
