Cold weather commuting idea.

I am considering adding a Jackson V90 shield to my winter commuting gear. It is actually a chemical/impact shield.

I am thinking that it would be a nice wind break over my balaclava.
The goggle part is supposed to be fog proof.

Hmm.......

My first instinct would be to look for snowmobile gear.

But then, it doesn't get cold in Georgia.

The first time my wife (GA gal) saw a snowmobile it zipped across the road in front of us in Wisconsin.

Scared her good. When I told he what it was she asked "Snowmowhat??"

Thank you for that tip. I did not know such things existed. I made myself a homemade full face shield from a chainsaw face shield from the hardware store. I attached it to a skateboard-style helmet with Velcro. It attached fine and was stable, but my breath in the winter totally fogged the inside so i couldn't see. With this model you found, one of the reviews says that the goggles form a seal around the eyes. That should mean that the goggle part won't fog up. I might try them. The end of the nose, in the winter, is one of my last vulnerable areas.

That's not a crazy idea at all. Please let us know what you think of it after using it.

Cheers,
Charles

That could totally work - it's going to get cold quickly up in the new england perhaps I'll borrow that idea...

I'd be interested to hear how you fair too.

I am considering the Respro Nitesight Mask, right now.

I use a pair of ski goggles when the temp goes below 10 F, they don't seem to fog up and offer reasonable visibility.

Guys how cold does it get in Maine? It can get pretty damn cold in Iowa in January. A balaclava and scarf work pretty well.
