Looking to upgrade the Fork on my rig

I've found two options; Amazon and AliExpress

Amazon.com : Control Tech F138I Folding Fork, Black : Bike Forks : Sports & Outdoors

20 "full carbon fiber road bike fork-in Bicycle Fork from Sports & Entertainment on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

I'm leaning towards the fork on AliExpress but I've never dealt with that service.

Just be aware that folding bike forks tend to be special. For one thing, your Giant has a folding stem. That means it probably has some special way of fixing. Might be a good idea to take the folding stem off to see how it works.

[edit] Also, make sure you get the right dropout width! 74mm is only used on few folding bikes.

[edit2]Nice bike!

Did you build this one up yourself or was this an offering I somehow missed entirely?
How is the fold?
Do you have to fold it often?

It was a full bike out of the box but I upgraded parts.

This was original stock set-up...

ExpressWay 2 (2014) | Giant Bicycles | United States

It folds just fine, actually folds better since I swapped out the single kickstand with a double leg kickstand. Only issue is the Handle bars stand an little proud when folded which is to be expected.

This is an older pic of the bike, mid upgrades, folded...

I only fold it if I have to transport it or when I have to when I reach a destination. I also fold and lock the frame closed with a short cable lock as a theft deterrent, I figure a bike thief would want an easier target.

I know... a little ridiculous. The double kickstand was necessary for stability when folded, the bike kept on tipping over with the stock single kickstand.

Why the wheelset? Just because . I actually was contemplating getting a 406 full carbon rim wheelset, but the thought of trying to brake in wet conditions shot that down.

Nice mods. About those forks, you do realize they're both raked while your stock fork is straight blade? That will change how it handles, although depending on how tall you are, slowing the steering might improve stability. I'd go with the Control Tech fork over the Ali since A) they're a reputable company with a good rep B) it's got the mount for whatever system you use to hold the wheels together and C) metal steerer tubes are easier to cut and not as sensitive to torque values as CF ones.

Turns out that the Control Tech Fork Dropout width, 75mm, is to narrow for my front wheel which is 100mm. So at the moment the fork from AliExpress is my only option. Unless someone on this board has a Carbon Fork with a 100mm Dropout width just laying around.

Try to find out what the crown-to-dropout dimension is. That needs to be reasonably close to the original.

Interesting, most folders are 75mm. You could try ThorUSA to see what he recommends,he was sourcing a 100mm fork for a disc conversion.

Giant sorta designed this bike to use disc brakes so that's probably why the dropouts on my fork are so wide.

Cool bike!

Just curious to see if you have made any headway with your fork pursuit.
