It's usually easy to tell if it's a real Marinoni: it will have branded lugs. The picture seems to have something on the seat stay. Mine has "Marinoni" debossed (stamped or cast, I don't know) there....

36 is pretty "short". If you don't need that low a gear you might have a bit easier shifting with the slightly tighter range of gears in †he Shimano. Probably a more salient feature than the brand.

Mine is pretty stock. I swapped the downtube shifters for bar-ends, and added Raceface Ride pedals, fenders and 35mm Paselas.
