And in my experience the story is never over, there are always new studies being done with new findings challenging old doctrine. I’m always concerned whenever I ingest any product from Big Pharm, there’s nothing they won’t do for a buck.

I agree with your take and acetaminophen is unquestionably your man. Any bad effects of acetaminophen which took this long to be detectable would be massively outweighed by the known risks of NSAIDs. All this stuff is off patent, anyway, so Big Pharma doesn't care.
