When I used to travel for work. The southwest airplane I was on got hit by lightening. ( can't remember what type of aircraft it was) lit up the whole plane, a sizzling boom. The pilot came on the intercom and apologized, I thought that was hilarious at the time.
I have successfully avoided being on boats when they were hit, which can be catastrophic. My boat had a hit or near hit at the dock, which fried some electronics and, unaccountably blew this huge clevis pin most the way out.
